Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

iBurst implemented discount burn rate at the begining of this month.
iBurst identified bug in the reporting whereas After Hour usage was not reported correctly. But was calculated correctly.
Example: If one is subscribed to wireless 2 - 50% burn rate after hour (and no "Uncapped Any Time") then if let's say for example the subscriber used 100MB after hours then only 50MB were deducted from his/her bundle but the 100MB were NOT reported hence you would see "After Hours" - 0MB the following morning.
iBurst identified the bug (thanks to you) Thursday last week and a fix was implemented at the same day.
Since the 9/July After Hours usage is reported.

Still doesnt make sense. I had 4 gb left for the night downloaded a 2.9GB file. went to sleep woke up, and had 2.1GB left. And it said after hours download 2.9Gb so its a moerse bug. Shows you you downloaded after hours, but still deducts it from your actual cap and not the half or whatever , if your a wireless 8 subscriber?????

I see the same. The remaining MB decreases by the same amount as the after hours usage. See my previous post.

Can any one of you who experience a problem with After Hours send me an example.

I need an example of a problem + account detail so I can extract a usage report and validate the complain.

(Tuesday AM - Monday AM report)
Inbundle data Usage 8,164.57 MB - 7,482.93 MB = 681.64MB

Data Used After Hours 4317.69MB - 3615.51MB = 702.18MB

I did 351MB till 7-8am yesterday. And 354MB this morning 6.40-7.50, including (220MB) after getting the report 7.21am. We do not use 681.64MB during the normal period. Usually it is <200MB max a day. Assume 300MB. That leaves 381Mb for me to account to. If I did 1GB after hours I should be loosing 200MB on the 8GB package, right? Or did they change the discount?

Anyway, I have definitely been loosing a lot more than 20% of my after hours usage - if feels like 80%.

+1. I had the same issue. My 60% free from 12-8am has also not materialized. I have scheduled all my large downloads to download between 12pm-8am.
We were promised 60% savings if we downloaded during that slot. This equated to W5 60% 12.5 on my 5Gig package. So with those figures, I should be able to download about 12.5GB a month.I was allocated 5,120.00 MB, and I carried over 1,125.92 MB at the beginning of the month. On the morning of the 18th, I had total usage of 5,938.58 MB, and I reached my cap that day, trying to download the free 466.64 I was promised. Somehow the 60% savings did not present themselves, as I only managed to download just of 6GB instead of the theoretical 12.5GB advertised.

Here is most of the reply I received , which does not translate too well into plaintext ( burn rates)
Refer to your query “After hours Bandwidth discount for 8gb package does not seem to be 20% of usage” :
Your assumption is correct.

You are subscribed to package “Wireless 8.5” which is not a standard/sellable package ( Wireless 1, 2, 5, 8, 15). This package was used in the beginning of this year to migrate obsolete packages from the old billing system to equivalent new wireless packages. In your case, you were subscribed to “Pro Classic” and the system migrate you to Wireless 8.5.

iBurst urged its subscribers to migrate to the standard Wireless package in order not to maintain and support two set of packages.

One of the outcome of this decision it that obsolete packages do not enjoy the benefits of the standard packages for example After hours burn rate.

As you can see from the table below, Wireless 8.5 after hours burn rate is 80% (As you suspected) compare to standard package of Wireless 8 which is 20%.

PRODUCT_NAME
After Hours Burn Rate %

Wireless 15 Office-in-a-Box 10
Wireless 15 10
Wireless 8 20
Wireless 8 - Office-in-a-Box 20
Wireless 5 40
Wireless 5 Office-in-a-Box 40
Wireless 2 Office-in-a-Box 50
Wireless 2 50
Wireless 4.5 80
Wireless 4.2 80
Wireless 4 80
Wireless 3 80
Wireless 18 80
Wireless 12 80
Wireless 1.5 80
Wireless 1 80
Wireless 1 Office-in-a-Box 80
Wireless 8.5 80
Wireless 6 80
Wireless 5.5 80
Wireless 100 100
Wireless Start Office-in-a-Box 100
Wireless 60 100
Wireless Special 100
Wireless Start 100
Wireless 30 100

If we take a look at your usage report (find attached for full report) :

You have used 141.92MB at 07:03 (After Hours).

The system calculated : Current_Free_MB_Balance – A.H%*Total Usage = New balance
=> 9710.0692 – 80% of 141.9206 = 9596.532

I received couple of complains as such from the MyBB members and one of the recommendation was to include the %burn rate in the website next to the After Hours Usage field. We will implement this in the next website release.

I can only suggest that you migrate to the standard wireless package thus you can enjoy more benefits among better After hours discounts

We have been paying R599 for the 8.5 product as opposed to 8gb ( nowdays R593) but with 80% burn rate - that makes me feel cheated! And we all now how forthcoming iburst have been with older customers regarding migrations, don't we? We were being migrated in December, so I assumed when it happened between 24 Jan and 1st Feb I assumed it was to the R599 Wireless 8 ...

Waz,

I believe Gcebile sent you last week a usage repot where you see that during after hours the system counts 40% of your usage.
you responded that the usage is correct - see thread Billing customer service query from the 15th of July where I quote you: "Thanks I got your email.
Strange. Tues night seems to be the first night, where the usage seems to have been calculated correctly. Hopefully, it stays that way !!"

As for 466.64MB freebie given to all iBurst subscribers, you have uses most of it on the 18/7 between 18:50 and 24:00 - Peak hours.

If you still not happy with the usage accounting, I'll be more than happy to send you a revised usage report.

Vis1,
1. You are paying R599 on 8.5gb as opposed to R593 8gb. I think it is fair to pay additon of R6 for addition 500MB.
2. Burn rate after hours is a FREE SERVICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! iBurst does not charge you a cent for this service. Here is the link for packages eligible for after hours discount : http://www.iburst.co.za/default.aspx?link=packages_mid2morn - Wireless 8.5 is not among them. I don't understand why you feel cheated then.
3. As I explained to you, iBurst encorages you to move to a standard wirelesss package so you can enjoy other benefits which are not available for obsolete package.
4. In order to enjoy a full after hours discount, you may subscribe to a VAS - "Uncapped any time" which provides yous uncapped internet with limited speed during peak time (after you reach your cap) and no limit during after hours. (up to 1Mbps)

How about this, I did not know that I was not on Wireless 8. And so I used a lot of my bandwith this month instead of managing it for the month, as I usually do. The information is not readily visible. I knew I was on a 8gb package and that the users would be getting 10% off - then that changed to 20%. The reports early this month was not working correctly, until after Tuesday the 13th and when it started to work again I decided to make proper use of the Wireless 8 burn rate. Except ... I am not on it. Oh well, that sucks.

We tried to migrate in December but during Aug-Jan 2010 I was not getting any reponses from helpdesk via email or phone. I was communicating via mybb (Gcebile) and had a great experience in Jan with someone who called me instead. And at the end of Jan I was being allocated 8(.5)gb I assumed I had been migrated to Wireless 8. Except ... I am not.

I'm sorry about the confusion but please understand that your package is displayed on your statement, i.e. "Subs for Wireless 8.5..." and on iBurst web site - self service. In addition, I believe you were aware of the fact that you pay a different subscription to Wireless 8 as mentioned previously.
Small correction, the report was not working correctly until the 3rd of July, since then it is working fine. See my previous comment in this thread.

Should you wish to migrate to a different package, please call the help desk. If you not get a proper response, I'll make sure that you will be served in no time.

Yes please Remot, please send me a revised usage report. In my books, I started the month on 6GB ( 5GB allocated + 1GB carried over ). On the 19th I ran out of cap, where my usage was just over 6GB.
I don't understand how that, as most of my downloading is scheduled for between 12pm-8am. With the 60% savings, the numbers don't add up.

Thanks .....

On the way to [email protected]

Let me know if you approve it.

The reports from the 4th to the 13th showed after hours usage as 137.84MB after hours usage - so that does not qualify as working fine. Anyway I don't want to be argumentative. I made good usage with the freebie last month, over 50GB, so it is win a lot, loose a little.

Now can you get someone to sort out the email issue in my thread, false positives are being permanently deleted instead of sitting in the spam folder as it used to.
