Free iBurst bandwidth after midnight

128kb/s = one hundred and twenty eight kilobits per second
1Mb/s = one megabit per second

125KB/s = one hundred and twenty five kilobytes per second = one megabit per second

You can knock yourself out betwen midnight and morning but if you have multiple modems on the uncapped services be careful of your day time usage and you'll trigger the limits. You can basically during the day download as much that is theoretically possible on a single modem.

Is it possible that iBurst can look at adding another two VAS services to the current two of 64k and 128k. Maybe iBurst could add a 256k for R300 and a 512k for about R350. This would definitely make iBurst a much more attractive option to ADLS especially for people that do not have ADSL in their area or do not want to support Telkom.

My contract has 9 more months to go and I am looking at other alternatives to iBurst but would prefer to stay. I have not had any major issues with the service from iBurst. Currently Telkom does not support ADSL in my area so I am looking at various other wimax options. The best of the bunch in my area is B360 which offers 4096kb/s for R999 per month, 1024kp/s for R799 and 512kb/s for R599 (www.b360.co.za). My only issue with wimax is the cost of the CPE device which range from R1000 to R2500 depending on signal quality.
 
Quite easy to understand really take 1MB/s and divide it by 7,there is your downloading speed

Iburst 1MB divide by 8 = 125 kbs per second
Telkom 4mb divide by 8 = 500 kbs per second

^Class reinstated, theres a difference between kb/s and KB/s :> Your post at the top of the thread had some of us thinking you meant KB/s while others thought you meant kb/s. Don't do drugs and stay in school.

Not sure, if they teach that kind of thing at high school during C.A.T. (Computer Application Technology) lessons. :confused:

Since nobody commented on this statement, it will be the subject of today's CAT lesson:

When referring to memory, KB, MB and GB are in their base-2 representation. There are 1024 (2^10) bytes in 1KB, 1048576 (2^20) bytes in 1MB and 1073741824 (2^30) bytes in 1GB.

When referring to transfer rates, kbps, Mbps and Gbps are in their base-10 representation. In one second there are 1000 (10^3) bits in 1kbps, 1000000 (10^6) bits in 1Mbps and 1000000000 (10^9) bits in 1Gbps.

But KB means 1000 bytes, not 1024 bytes.
IEC made new name for 1024 bytes: kibibyte (KiB).
 
I think the only reason why we are really fighting about the KB and kb thing, is because it is possible to get 125KB/s and 125kb/s with iburst. ;) One is fast and the other, very slow. :D
 
past midnight and speed is still throttled

its now 00:20 and my download speed hasnt gone past the normal 64kps throttled speed. it normally jumps up at after midnight to full speeds. :erm: :erm: :erm:

nevermind. speed went up after the current download it was busy with before midnight completed.
