the reason i posted my predicament was because in the past the download speed would simply just speed up to "normal unthrottled" speeds. :confused:

I am on the wireless 2 option , as I have 2 modems and 1 account (I share the account with my parents who have the other modem , they live in a different city) ,
I am really keen to get this uncapped option , but I wonder what the performance is like ?
128kbps is dreadfully slow isnt it ?
Anyone currently on this account ?
How is browsing on it ? And downloading ? Can I grab stuff from rapidshare / torrents ?
I suspend the download speed will be around 10kB ?
I also play world of warcraft and starcraft 2 , would i be able to stay connected ?

Anyone who is currently using this option , please let me know your experiences on this ?

I have the 64kbps option. My mission is not to burn my cap on downloads during the day. All i do during the day " non 00:00 to 08:00 hrs" is to use my connection for browsing, all my downloads are scheduled for the happy session "00:00 to 08:00" that is where you have full line speed and any downloads does not burn your cap.

So my advice is ... if you use more than 2gig a month on just browsing " not downloading stuff" get yourself the 5gig pack and the 64kbps uncapped.

TIP: Schedule your downloads for midnight to eight the next morning.

This is my stats for the way i use my connection Total Data Received 78,655.39 MB
 
Like DagegeN said, you get full download speed after 12am till 8am. 128kbps just for browsing isn't that bad, if you consider you might be without internet after your 2Gigs is up and you don't want to purchase more.
Does your parents connect when you are not conencted or can they connect at the same time as you? I would assume you both will get 128kbps after your cap is reached.

We can both be connected at the same time :)

So tell me , the uncapped allows me unlimited downloads at full speed between midnight and 8 ?

Can you stop VAS services at any time and if so, are there any penalty clauses?

You can stop any VAS any time without a penalty.
The only time you pay penatly is if you cancel a contract or downward migrate (moving to a lower package) during a contract.

VAS Clarification

Having read through almost all of the VAS-related threads here, I'm still a little confused.

I'm the 3 Gig package and have just signed up for the 64kbps VAS service. Let's say I have 3 gigs remaining as of 12 this evening and I download from 12:00 - 8:00 AM, will I still have 3 gigs remaining in the morning?

YUP :o Un-metered data transfer from 00:00 until 08:00.

Just remember to use a download program with a reliable schedule function.

Total After Hour Usage 81,574.91 MB per month gives me much more value for money than DSTV :wtf:

But when you apply for the VAS, is it activated immediately? Example - I went onto their site,logged in and selected it there and it now says I have it, is that it? If I decide to download like crazy tonight after 12 will my cap be in tact in the morning? :)

I registered for 128 VAS last night. Waited for the email and it should be done as soon as you get that mail. I updated my PS3 this morning and it seemed to have worked for me. Although I'm not 100% sure, it might have been a month end thing?

Maybe double check before you kill your cap.
