Free Telkom ADSL speed upgrades

Only if you're currently on 1Mb or 2Mb. If you're on 10Mb you don't get upgraded or pricedropped.

I only need about 30 to 50GiB of data per month regardless of line speed.
2Mbps means that I may actually be able to stream Youtube video instead of having to download clips to watch later. Same amount of data either way but much better experience.
 
Yea - I suppose 10mbps now ;)

They're obviously upgrading in Northriding! I'm sure when I checked last year, 4mbps was max
 
Unexpected. Well done Telkom! To think a year or 2 ago I was on 384 and now will have a 2Mb line :)

What I want to know too.

I'm on 4Mbps uncapped. Will the Telkom Internet "Do Uncapped Premium" package drop in price or increase in speed? Ranger?
 
This is the current 2Mbps inclusive package.

So essentially next year this will be the new 4Mbps?

I am on a 2mb with Telkom and 2mb with Mweb Uncapped.
if Telkom does'nt increase their cost on the 2mb and Mweb forces me to pay R359 for a 4mb (then its not worth it)
I want Mweb to retain the cost of R239 for a 2mb then its bang for buck.
What are the chances of Mweb doing this ?
 
I started my ADSL experience trip on 1mbps, and telkom had their first doubling of speed not that long ago. I then was on 2mbps.

Speedtest.net consistently shows my real speed is around 1.73mbps

The recent news is good news for me, as I will then have a 4mbps line, so I would hope to achieve around 3.3mbps.

Our 028 514**** exchange only supports up to 4mbps, so I'll be happy, and even happier if they reduce prices at some point in the future.

But I'll probably be dead before my klein dorpie has an exchange that supports more than 4mbps
 
So it seems that Telkom is actually NOT stuck back in the era of Alexander Graham Bell! Things move slowly, but at least they do move. Nothing wrong with a price cut or a speed increase. Maybe both one day?
 
Assuming you are on 2mb uncapped currently.

You will have to;
a) do nothing and have have 2mb data account on a 4mb line sync speed,
b) Pay in more for 4mb data and have higher speeds, or
c) downgrade the line from 4mb to 2mb and save a little.

Not necessarily, the people on TI capped are going to score with the double your data (and free data from 00:00 thru 06:00) promo, believe other ISP's have free after hours data offerings as well .

yip and with the new capped offering from afrihost this is going to be an awesome end of year for ADSL users :D

think i'm gonna go ahead and cancel my uncapped and get a big capped bundle instead once i get bumped to 4mb
 
I'm happy, they are working on my box outside, soon upgraded to news exchange and distance will drop considerable from current exchange.:). Now soon 10mg without paying more.
