French Elections 2017

Reforming the EU is not anti EU.
For the true establishment EU crowd it is, speaking of reform is very taboo, why would you reform something that is clearly the epitome of perfection?!?

Regardless, he hasn't spoken out against the EU before in any way, shape or form afaik, this is a change in his rhetoric and the timing suggests he's trying to specifically appeal to Le Pen supporters.

Seems like someone is jumping on the anti-EU bandwagon, is he more worried about Le Pen's odds than one might imagine?
Sounds like campaign lip-service. He's still the status quo candidate. If he had some gonads he'd straight-up seek a federalised Europe. Having strong convictions isn't a centrist trade though.

For those that might have missed the post in the interesting pics thread

Six officers were injured during riots in protest against far right Marine Le Pen’s success in the first round of the French presidential election. One officer, believed to be the man pictured above, was seriously hurt by a firebomb which exploded on the top of his helmet. Footage from the scene shows the officer run back from the scene trying to put out the fire which has engulfed him.

‘She represents racism and hatred, that’s why we’re opposing her,’ said one Left-wing activist, who asked to be referred to as Nicole, 22.‘Thousands of us have come out on the street to stand up for justice and decency, and to show our shame at these fascists hoping to take over.’

Who has said/is saying the EU is the epitome of perfection?

I'm paraphrasing of course, the EU has traditionally laughed off any suggestion that reform is needed. Varoufakis had a few choice quotes on the topic during his "negotiations" with the EU for example.

Even before brexit was a thing Farage was heckled every single time he mentioned reform (and yes btw, he sometimes spoke about reform too) etc etc etc

The EU is not interested in reforming itself, that much is clear as day.

Nah that is not the general view of things, i think the idea of improving the EU shows a more pro EU view than anti.

Whilst he might of changed his tune, i fail to see how this will appeal to Le Pen supporters who generally want nothing to do with the EU.

Funny experiment, type on google:
- Juncker + EU REFORM
- Tusk + EU REFORM

Tell me what you find. Though we'll probably disagree on the content.

I just stopped at the first minute.

Technology ?

My flat in Paris has a 100mbps uncapped connection for 3 years.
My countryside house has a 40mbps VDSL.
My ski place as well.
You have 3G pretty much everywhere, LTE in every city.

It's complete staged bs... can't believe some people use bandwidth for this crap...

Reforming the EU has always been part of his programme. Even in 2015, before being candidate http://www.euractiv.fr/section/politique/news/macron-et-osborne-a-l-unisson-sur-la-reforme-de-l-ue/

Mentioning Frexit is to seduce right voters who are not sure of voting Le Pen.

Agreed, I still think that is the only reason he changed his tune though, it won't work, but he's trying anyway.
As Garson007 mentioned: "Sounds like campaign lip-service"
He will not push for any meaningful reform if he wins, I'll bet money on that.

I find a vast chasm of a difference between their words over time, and their actions. Talk is terribly cheap ...

I basically don't have a clue of what she's preaching anymore

Glad I'm not a voter in this one, both candidates are flip-flopping so fast it is hard to keep track, it's like Trump taught them nothing: you flip-flop AFTER you win damnit!

and your beach house on mustique island ?

That's meant to be out of the grid.

It's close and less close family altogether, none is is owned by me, but I go to these regularly when I'm back on holiday.
