French Elections 2017

60/40% is in-line with polling done months ago.
The headline is overly dramatic, in the article they claim Macron slipped by 6 points, so in theory he was at 67% before this poll where he dropped to 61%.

Which is inline with the wiki link you posted, Macron vs Le Pen from Harris Interactive on 11 April shows 67% vs 33%
Now they say 61% vs 39%. The move is significant, but not exactly "PLUMMETS" per the headline.

Macron has had a high point of 71 and a low point of 58 since the beginning of the year. This is well within that range and isnt significant imo.

The most common number I've seen is 61/39 and actually been that way for ages...long before the 1st round. Both candidates not making any inroads.

You're actually all lucky to not understand french.

The lameness of all their statements is depressing.

Yup and barring some unforeseen circumstances, i expect it to remain that way.

Le Pen accused of plagiarising Fillon

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has been accused of plagiarising defeated rival François Fillon in a speech she delivered on Monday.

Several sections of her speech in Villepinte, north of Paris, appear to repeat almost word-for-word comments Mr Fillon made in an address on 15 April.

An official of her National Front party said she had made a "nod" to Mr Fillon and it showed she was "not sectarian".

Ms Le Pen faces centrist Emmanuel Macron in the final round on Sunday.

The similarity in the speeches was pointed out by the Ridicule TV YouTube channel, initially set up by François Fillon's supporters to attack Mr Macron before the first round of voting that saw Mr Fillon eliminated from the contest.

Ridicule TV said the far right presidential candidate had plagiarised Mr Fillon's speech "word for word" and set the two speeches side by side, inviting viewers to make up their own minds.

The middle man between ISIS and Lafarge was a FN candidate

And more scary, should the FN not get a majority at the parliamentary elections, Marine says she will dissolve Parliament and propose a new electoral law by referendum. This new law will introduce proportional elections instead of elections by ward and the winner will get a +30% bonus in addition of the votes for him.

Meaning that you'd need 20% of the votes to get 50% of the MPs...

Democracy according to the FN...

Greece has a similar system.

10 ex head of the police, hawks, secret services from the left and the right writing a column in Le Figaro to vote Macron. The current ones cannot speak, they have a duty of remaining neutral.

This extract is interesting since Le Pen always tries to appeal to the police by promising much more funding:

"The programme of the FN candidate is vicious. Its brutality can always create new spiraling conflicts, its all-repressive attitude will only make the court and police system overwhelmed, the stigma it puts on religious, social and racial categories can only divide more the population.

The lack of knowledge of our institutions that the programme reveals can only lead to a complete mess and loss of efficiency.

The protection of the citizens will not be insured under Le Pen."

Not gonna have a chance to watch unfortunately !

But I'll make quick resumes from the newspapers live.

Le Pen is proposing to put the retirement age back at 60yo, and to finance the 30 billion missing annually to reduce immediately unemployment by 3%.

But she doesn't say how
