Does anybody know exactly what is up with this map: https://maps.frogfoot.net/beta

Been struggling with getting fibre to this area (see: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/update-fibre-in-glenwood-berea-and-bulwer-durban.1087583/) and after my girlfriend found this map. It shows our area as a WIP. Not holding much hope at all, just curious.

In other news, it seems like frogfoot can offer FTTB, but I can't find any decent pricing with most ISP's, only obscure ones seem to offer acceptable packages.

As you mentioned its the map for FTTB mainly (it does show FFTH areas also)

FTTB would be through VOX, who owns Frogfoot

Not sure if other ISP's can offer FFTB through Frogfoot

Now you have posted the map publically they will probably put it behind a password

On their website you can compare ISP packages and place an order.

Look out for contracts and fly by night ISPs. It might be worthwhile going with a reputable ISP like Cool Ideas or Vox, or if you want a smaller more tech savvy/personal service feel ISP like Atomic Access.

Also be aware that Durban is like mid Africa not only in climate but also corruption and business. You need to bribe everyone to get approvals, then when you start building you need to hire locals from gangs or they kill the contractors. They're called "business forums" but are radical so you don't really want to do business with them but have to if you want to get them job done.

It's a well known problem which is why Vuma stopped rolling out and the large operators mostly came to a halt in many areas, it's just too corrupt and savage.
