Frogfoot performance issues in George

Sorry guys......

The following Frogfoot clients will NOT be upgraded:

  • All Frogfoot clients in Port Elizabeth and George.
  • All former Blitz Fibre clients.
  • 1Gbps clients will unfortunately not receive a speed upgrade, as this is the maximum line speed.

International speeds are really awful lately.

Testmy.net - on 100mb line:
9.6-18mbps

Colleagues also on Vox & Frogfoot (but in PTA area) are getting 80mbps at the same time.
Seeing some terribly low battle.net download speeds. 1-2mbps on a 100mbps line.
Getting random disconnects as well, for the last few days.

Looks like much more than just battle.net.
Copying files over our work vpn (EU) also only going at 1MB/s odd, often dipping to half that.
Was way faster on our 40mbps VDSL last year...

Interestingly, VPN'ing to a friend (who's on Afrihost 200mbps fibre) and Battlenet updates full speed, no COD issues.
Disconnect the VPN and it's back to broken.

Definitely Vox issues. Looks like they're shaping international traffic on many protocols except for stuff like Youtube, Google and speedtests.

Severe throttling, the above from someone in our neighbourhood this afternoon.

Requested Vox to investigate..

No such issues here.
But busy scoping for a new isp atm.

Who are you guys using and what packages.
My current isp is carrying a full 16% package increase over to me. So sent my cancelation in today for end of June.

Going to move to Cool Ideas or Afrihost as soon as possible.

100mb Vox-Frogfoot Fibre is throttled to the ground. Support has been useless.
Getting slower than 4mb ADSL speeds at times... Can't VPN the whole time for everything to bypass the throttling.

Seems to indicate they are back-haul limited in those areas

Wanted to go for Cool ideas, 50/50 but they bumped their pricing.
Everyone complains about afrihost lately? Think it's wise to move over?

Update:

I've had the opportunity to test several 100mbps Frogfoot Fibre lines in the area and discovered that regardless of ISP, they're all severely throttled as far as international traffic goes.

testmy.net results showing 1-29mbps on average, while folks with the same lines (in other towns) on the same ISPs (Vox, Afrihost) get around 80mbps.

After a half a dozen tickets and support technicians logging in to run tests, they confirmed that @Frogfoot is to blame and have reported it.

Will see what happens..
