I have no BIOS after doing the following:

Formatted embedded SSD Drive and downloaded Linux to USB. This removed my Windows 10 entirely. The USB stick was bootable and I used it for some time.

I then decided to go for Ubuntu but had to enter a PW in the BIOS that I did. Now the laptop has shut down completely. No lights come on at all. Totally dead.

Any ideas?

Sorry for late reply. Been away for some weeks.

I had to reset my password in BIOS to get to access to change start up sequence in it. This I had to do by removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes. Parameters were all greyed out and not accessible.

After doing this the laptop died. God bless it.

RIP never forget thoughts and prayers it died too young.

It is an Acer Aspire ES1 - 111M with a 32 Gig eMMC. Bought it for my daughter 18 months ago but she never used it so I took it over to run Ubuntu on it.
Sad as it is still brand spanking new. :(

Did you try hard resetting the battery?

How on earth do I do that?
Remove anything connected to laptop(flash drives, etc.)Disconnect charger. Turn laptop over. There should be a little reset switch hidden in a little hole. Use a paperclip or similar to press down the switch for a second or two. Reconnect charger and try turning it on.
