Hi, Full details will be posted later, we have to still compile them.

Quick Breakdown (Sinbad, correct me if I am wrong or missed anything)

Meeting started with a timeline being given, and how long it took to repair different faults.
What was also mentioned was that All Trenching is stopped, for the time being. 90% of Blairgowrie is finished however. Trenching will commence once Vuma has scanned every meter that still needs to be trenched (thus, 7000m)
About 50 mobile generators were supplied to people with babies, or who are on breathing apparatus.

With regards to claims, they are to be submitted to CP. From there the insurance will handle it. It is the same as a 3 car pile up. The front car claims from the car behind him, not from the car who caused the accident.

Vuma will do their best to make sure that they don't hit any cables going forward.
They will also be working closer with CP.

Official statement from the BCA will be posted once we have completed it.

Thanks

Pretty much.
750km of trenching in 18 suburbs and they've never had issues like this before. 75km done in Blairgowrie before this happened.

Vuma CEO undertook to try to expedite the claims process from CP - will communicate further.
Something I clarified after - this is NOT the same claims process as for power surges blowing your appliances, where City Power says that if you can't prove they were negligent, they will not pay. This is a claim for an extended outage, which there is plenty of evidence for, so the CP insurers will not be able to repudiate.
They have agreed to expedite the lighting and commissioning of phase 8, all other phases will be delayed to accommodate this

And some technical details:
Each wall box will be provisioned with 2 fibres. You can do 2 installs on this, so you can provide service to a cottage.
In the event of a fibre breaking, there are 2 spare fibres per property on the distribution cables - these can be pulled in to replace the broken fibre very easily :D

One of the points above is incorrect.

Cool, thanks for the update.

Not sure I understand this point. Does this mean installation of fibre will be prioritised in this area first? If so, why?

:D :D

Refer to the last point of my post

LOL! Just my luck, I just had to choose the incorrect point!

Yip, should have been obvious, since I stay in phase 5. They will never screw with my timelines to accommodate a later phase :P

But unofficially, phase 5 may be starting to get lit from next week Thursday. Which would be awesome!! But no promises was made :(

Can anyone tell us how Vuma is actually trenching? I am guessing they not digging by hand ?

What Sinbad said is correct. They generally use picks and shovels with manual laborers. When it comes to crossing streets, they generally drill underneath the street, if at all possible.

They also have a reinstatement team who works on your sidewalk, to make it look the same as it did when they started digging.

I'm in phase 12, so still sum way to go till we're lit up... Trenching stopped 2 houses from me so at least that part is not far off.

Sinbad, I saw your post on the timelines. But it is only till 2 March, so only a week. Essentially the week of power issues, where they stopped everything to make sure they can deal with Blair Community first. Mine was also pushed out till the 19th

I know it's only a week. Still sad :p

Original date was like 11 November or something ;)
