Hi bradleyk
Please could you elaborate on thorough investigation of all options.
What were the requirements of the residents ?
How many companies responded?
Who responded?
What was the evaluation criteria?
Did the PRRA committee interview other HOA that selected the same company?

What does best bang for buck mean? Cheapest? Lowest bidder? Best value?

Also interested to find out.

Dear Paulshof Residents

Towards the end of last year, just after 123Net had assured us that they would begin installations in January, we, as the working committee, issued them with a checklist of requirements that we needed in order to ensure a smooth roll-out.

This checklist centred around mainly ensuring the improvement of their internal communication structures as we had been receiving many mails from the community regarding confusing and conflicting information from 123net. There was also a requirement to them to commit to a marketing plan, with planned activations and brochures that they would distribute.

However, despite repeated requests for a Memorandum of Understanding regarding this undertaking, 123net have missed every deadline we had indicated in our initial request.

Therefore, seeing this lack of communication as a portent of things to come, we have decided to rescind our support of 123net. As mentioned in our initial announcement emails, service delivery and communication were major criteria in the decision making process. In neglecting to respond to our requests, 123net has failed in meeting these criteria.

We know many of you will be very disappointed with this. Please understand that when we made the recommendation, there were very few practical examples of how the service providers operated. Fibre is still very new in South Africa and we worked with the proposals that were sent to us. At the time 123Net's offering was very compelling and we did believe it ticked many of the boxes for the community.

For those of you who have sent in your contracts, you may withdraw your commitment by sending a notification to:
K@123net.co.za
cc@123net.co.za
install-fibre@123net.co.za

We are already meeting with other interested service providers and will be communicating their offerings shortly.

Regards

The Paulshof Fibre Team

Probably the right decision.

In 2015, I can remember only one single post of a guy in Durban posting a screenshot of gigabit local but other than that, it's been a dog show of broken promises and missed deadlines.

When I was initially calling around trying to find out if they would come out to Pretoria, just the experience of having to wade through a conversation with a lay who had a thick Russian/Bulgarian accent was enough to set off some alarm bells.

Kalin also had some pretty dodge tweets and he's outside the country more than he's here. The Secunda guys are promised that work will start this year but I don't really believe that.

Good choice to drop them.

Rather a short tem disappointment than a long term one with a bad fibre provider who can't satisfy your needs. Good luck on the search for a new one.

Can't you guys see if you can approach vumatel? They seem to be the opposite of 123net

It would be AMAZING if Vumatel deployed here - but I think their installation footprint is still approaching on the other side of Bryanston

send a mail to them. They go where the people are. If you come as a community association, it will be good. Worth a try. Blairgowrie and Linden associations worked with them, and must say they were extremely professional in their approach. First homes went live since Monday, and the people are raving on the facebook page!!

Seems this has died down again. Let's hope we hear from someone soon as to what is happening with this.

I just visited your website.
The website indicates that Fibre build to start in Q1 2016 for paulshof west.
Can you provide a list of road names in paulshof that are being targeted ( in order of priority first to last)

Thanks

Hi All
We are ready to get going on all the complexes along Witkoppen Rd as they are already on net so place your order if you are there. We are busy building the business cases for the rest so watch this space.

I don't think Greencom understands the opportunity they have here. Telkom infrastructure sucks in Paulshof!!! Most people in the area will easily go for fibre. Simple advert against a pole will inform other residents to register their interest. The normal internet user wouldn't know about mybb and FTTH roll outs. We are desperate Greencom.

^^^This

I have not ordered ADSL because I am waiting for Fibre.
But I'm not in a complex.
Wonder how many owners and renters in complexes are going to jump at the greencom offer.
