I didn't know Paulshof was looking at fibre. Seriously going to consider it. Telkom adsl has been down since Thursday. 3 faults logged and no joy.

This is the biggest problem unfortunately. The complex I stay in has NO Telkom infrastructure but the BC seems to be very relaxed about getting some sort of connectivity into the complex. This would definitely encourage the empty units to get tenants in I am sure.

There has been no comms sent out within the complex, and I am tempted to have 500 fliers printed notifying people of Greencom's interest in our area and get some signups this way.

I am deeply impressed by Vumatel's proposal. They offer clear timelines, and seem to have gone to a lot of effort to address the PRRA situation specifically in the proposal. Fibrehood's proposal seems generic, especially on the timeline, and Greencom seems to be prioritising complexes.

I also like Vumatel's existing ISP offerings, something the Greencom proposal seems to be handwaving.

In addition to the above thoughts - Vumatel's reasoning for going with a trenched solution as opposed to an aerial solution offered by the other two proposals seems convincing.

I admit to having a Vumatel bias. My friends in Parkhurst and Linden are connected on their network, and I was very impressed by their experience of installation and deeply envious of current performance. Today I ate at The Whippet in Linden, and a poster was still up on the street corner indicating the trenching date for that corner. I love that level of communication. Also, last time I was in Parkhurst I saw at two different places Vumatel technicians working on their infrastructure.

This is all subjective, admittedly. I personally would be very disappointed if we didn't go with Vumatel, I'm so excited that they are an option for our suburb.

The VUMA written proposal is solid.
And they have a history of good track record in other surburbs in Johannesburg.

Well done to the PRRA members who are driving this.

I agree. The Vumatel proposal is absolutely much more in-depth and comprehensive in comparison to the proposals from Greencom and Fibrehoods. In fact, I think Vumatel just absolutely blows the other two out of the water. They seem to have a great track record based on their previous roll-outs as well.

Based on these proposals, I think Vumatel would be the best choice.

We need to get more residents to "show their interest"

No, fortunately it's not required. On page 6 of the proposal, as well as page 8 and page 33, they give the following:

"From the engagement thus far with Paulshof residents it is clear there is a great desire for the VUMA
FTTH solution to be deployed in the suburb. The PRRA has received 443 expressions of interest from
residents
. This is sufficient support for VUMA to commit for the fibre the roll-out to begin.
We understand that the project has been ongoing for some time and that the previous supplier has not
been able to meet their commitments. Given this delay suffered, VUMA feels it is important that the
project be kicked off as soon as possible. We need to allow for wayleaves to be obtained which takes
approximately 2 months. On this basis we can kick off the communications and planning activities
immediately, but with a view of starting construction in May 2016 to set achievable expectations with
residents."

Coming from Blairgowrie, and being on the RA team who worked with the proposals, and still with installation. I can honestly say, I am impressed with VUMA, they communicate very well, and will do their best to make sure residents are happy. Yes the trenching can cause come problems, but in the end, I feel that they are the best company to go for.

Sounds more like they want to gain a 1up over their competitor. 123Net gains all the interest so they swoop in before they can legally roll out.

LOL, Are you still blowing the 123Net horn. Let examine the facts.

RA get people to show support for 123Net.
123Net gets the numbers needed to do their investigations. (this happened before 1 October 2015)
123Net sends out open ended contracts without any dates.
123Net goes silent (and have since even closed down their facebook page)
RA decides to no longer support 123Net
RA sends out RFP's to different fibre providers, who then reply with a proposal.
One Fibre Provider sees the work RA association has done to get fibre, and takes previous timelines into consideration, and actually wants to help the community.

And now suddenly they are the bad guys, when 123Net had over 5 months to do something, but has done nothing?

Really, you need to stop kicking a dead horse, and come back to reality.

Paulshof will do what they feel is in the best interest of the community. 123Net does what is in the best interest of themselves, and screw the community.

Good luck Paulshof, with whomever you choose, hope you get fibre soon

Yes and your beloved Vumatel is so benevolent. Wake up man, this is business. If it were me and my competitor were struggling to get the necessary permits I'll also swoop in before they can. As always you like to point finger here but fail to see the promises Vumatel broke.

They're not struggling to get the necessary permits, they failed to deliver. They made a commitment 5 months ago and then went silent - where is their facebook page?

And what promises did Vumatel break exactly?

Please, point me to those promises?

Also, facts speak for themselves. If 123Net was open an honest with the Paulshof RA, then they would not have lost the support of the RA. But they could not even to that. 123Net is built upon empty promises and lies.

They don't have licenses for Gauteng because Icasa is dragging their feet.
