I will be moving into one of those soon and the ADSL there is shocking I believe, cannot even get 4Mbit.
So really, really want this to happen soon and quickly! Any ETA?

I did send you a PM about it :)

Hey,

I'm in Lavender Lane and we have 40mbps VDSL fyi.
There's an MSAN in Wroxham road.

Hi All
The great news is that if you are in any of these complexes we are already building business cases as they are a natural extension of our Sunninghill roll out:

• The Matrix
• Lavender Hill
• Highmeadow Grove
• Westwood Way
• Ashwood Manor
• Kildrummy Close
• Isipingo Close
• The Algarve
• Bryanston Manor
• Willowbrooke
Please go to our website www.greencom.co.za and order away.......

This is great news! Glad to see my Complex is on the list.

I know there are other providers in question here, but my question is, who is going to use the fibre that was laid late last year? From some of the proposals I read that there are plans to begin trenching etc in the near future. That other fibre just going to lay dormant?

Considering that greencom is only targeting complexes, I am surprised that you have missed out
Monchique
Tequesta
Partridge manor
Via positano
Hathaway

Edit : all within reasonable distance of the Fibre that was laid down by metrofibre.

Hi Midnight Caller
We are certainly talking to the abovementioned but don't yet have buy in from the body corporates. The ones on my list we are already at business case level and getting investment approvals hence the call for interest to be registered or orders placed.

Hi,
I currently live in the complex Ruggin Hill directly across from Lavender Lane to the NE. Possible to approach the Ruggin Hill board for a roll out soon?

Any time frames as to when we can expect an update here? It is painful to have no infrastructure in and to rely on 3G is a pain in the A$$!

Received this notice yesterday:

"After much deliberation and consideration, we are happy to announce the preferred fibre provider to Paulshof, endorsed by the PRRA: Vumatel"

Seems like the timeline is four months until final installation. We'll be the furthest northern suburb for the Vumatel network.

Im still trying to figure out why Paulshof went with Vumatel? Metrofibre already has laid down fibre in the area and I thought it was a straightforward matter.

BTW according to Vumatels website there is not enough interest shown by Paulshof to start rolling out fibre yet.

More than likely because Metrofibre focusses on Complexes and not individual residences. But may be wrong. All the submitted details aren't available for view that the RA had to work with.

WRT shows of interest.

No, fortunately it's not required. On page 6 of the proposal, as well as page 8 and page 33, they give the following:

"From the engagement thus far with Paulshof residents it is clear there is a great desire for the VUMA
FTTH solution to be deployed in the suburb. The PRRA has received 443 expressions of interest from
residents
. This is sufficient support for VUMA to commit for the fibre the roll-out to begin.
We understand that the project has been ongoing for some time and that the previous supplier has not
been able to meet their commitments. Given this delay suffered, VUMA feels it is important that the
project be kicked off as soon as possible. We need to allow for wayleaves to be obtained which takes
approximately 2 months. On this basis we can kick off the communications and planning activities
immediately, but with a view of starting construction in May 2016 to set achievable expectations with
residents."

Greetings!

As an employee of Metrofibre Networx I'm happy to report that MFN won the contract to deploy fibre services to a complex in Paulshof, namely "The Matrix" (wroxham rd). The site survey has been done, the planning is in progress and we will start building the site very soon. I'm simply posting this informal thread to bring fellow residents in the Paulshof area up to speed on the fibre roll out in the area. I know for ages there has been a lot of 'talk' about getting fibre services up in Paulshof, but mainly it seems like there was a lot of indecision.

I know initially 123NET was gonna do the roll-out - but they were subsequently removed as an option after it was discovered they had a total lack of service and correspondence with their prospective clients was terrible. Then next SADV was on the cards... After personally trying to get just 3 simple questions answered i eventually gave up on them. I don't think they are even aware if they are 'open-access' or not.

So the good news is finally Metrofibre was given the task of deploying fibre to "The Matrix" - an undertaking we are more than happy to assist with :) We are hoping to pick up a number of other complexes in the Paulshof area too, but obviously that is dependent on the governing bodies of the specific complexes. The joy and relief, at least for me personally, is that at least Fibre and FTTH is on its way to Paulshof - It seemed like every surrounding suburb was being connected except us.

For those interested in any other info please feel free to call and query with MFN anytime (087 151 4000)

What happened to the Vumatel connection that the PRRA approved?

Also, isn't MFN struggling to keep consistent quality of service in Sunninghill at the moment - that's what the Greencom thread currently seems to be saying.

EDIT: Greencom representative, in that thread:
MFN are experiencing network issues sporadically which will apply to any provider in Sunninghill not just ourselves. We are all working actively to resolve this.

I received an email update from the PRRA

"

A short summary of the Vumatel townhall this evening. (by *********)

1. Vumatel is coming to Paulshof. They applied for municipal way leaves 2 weeks ago.
2. They do not require anybody more to show interest - however if you want them to be able to communicate with you and make YOUR INDIVIDUAL sign-up and installation process run smoothly - I would suggest you register on their site - otherwise they have no idea who you are. Registering on the site does not obligate you in anyway.
3. They were voted best broadband company in SA 2015.
4. They will be trenching the cabling infrastructure.
5. Each house will have two 1gig Fibre lines.
6. It is up to you choose the speed and amount of data you can afford. From what I saw - the costs will be very competitive vs ADSL lines at very much higher speeds.
7. Vumatel is not an Internet Service Provider (ISP) - you can choose your own from a list of about 20. These include the likes of Mweb, Voxtelecom, Afrihost... This means you can shop around for the best deal - and "fire" anyone who does not provide a good service.
8. You don't have to sign any long term contract.
9. The only thing you need to pay for is the physical installation into your house (from the street to anywhere you choose in your house. (R1750).
10. Note: there will be a connection box on your pavement or in your complex whether you want it or not. And if you don't want to make use of it you are not obliged to.

yay.. I'm moving to Paulshof (back to northern sandton) from 1st July 2016. I can't wait to get on the fibre from Vumatel :) [primarily because I need to use the same ISP as I can then use the same ISP account as I am with ADSL]

I have held out on ordering ADSL.
But , I had to get it. Placed my order and waiting for installation.

My guess is that we are about 18-26 months away from the start of a Fibre rollout in paulshof.
