I have held out on ordering ADSL.
But , I had to get it. Placed my order and waiting for installation.

My guess is that we are about 18-26 months away from the start of a Fibre rollout in paulshof.

once they get the wayleaves they can start, say I am expecting that you may still get it this year

MetroFibre has come to our complex directly and they have already laid down the fibre. So we just waiting for installation times, cannot wait! :-D

There is some trenching on stone haven street (opposite Off the Grid pub) from the metro Fibre distribution point.

I wonder where it is going to.
Anyone know?

Anyone know if Lavendar Lane (Estelle Road) has fibre already installed? I am trying to decide if I ask Telkom to move my ADSL line (not a waste as its on prepaid) but i don't use the landline so its a waste where fibre costs the same for way more speed.

Greencom should be installing at some stage, that being said, there is 40mbps vdsl available :)

Also in Lavender Lane. Honestly after the service I received from Telkom on my LTE account, I dont want a land line. Will rather go straight on to fibre.

The problem with A/VDSL is that u need to pay an extra R200 for POTS with Closer1 which I don't really use (currently on Closer1 + 4Mbps ADSL). I think I will just get another ADSL line at new place until fibre comes.. because +/-R500 i pay for line and ADSL = very fast fibre rental :D

Not sure where it is going but I did come across this: https://123net.co.za/en/front/areas/expansionplans

Also, If Vumatel plans to roll out in Paulshof, why not update the website? https://vumatel.servicezones.net/johannesburgnorthcentral/Paulshof

I have friends in Fontainebleau who just had Vumatel put fibre down right by their house, but the area also still says needs more interest on their website?

Been there all along. What's odd is that it's counting down without me doing anything and by more than the number of views we're getting. Wondering if they may be gearing up for more roll-outs and discovering some lost sign-ups. A couple of people at the time reported signing up but they were not reported in the area.

See below

Just received this....

Dear Paulshof Residents

Towards the end of last year, just after 123Net had assured us that they would begin installations in January, we, as the working committee, issued them with a checklist of requirements that we needed in order to ensure a smooth roll-out.

This checklist centred around mainly ensuring the improvement of their internal communication structures as we had been receiving many mails from the community regarding confusing and conflicting information from 123net. There was also a requirement to them to commit to a marketing plan, with planned activations and brochures that they would distribute.

However, despite repeated requests for a Memorandum of Understanding regarding this undertaking, 123net have missed every deadline we had indicated in our initial request.

Therefore, seeing this lack of communication as a portent of things to come, we have decided to rescind our support of 123net. As mentioned in our initial announcement emails, service delivery and communication were major criteria in the decision making process. In neglecting to respond to our requests, 123net has failed in meeting these criteria.

We know many of you will be very disappointed with this. Please understand that when we made the recommendation, there were very few practical examples of how the service providers operated. Fibre is still very new in South Africa and we worked with the proposals that were sent to us. At the time 123Net's offering was very compelling and we did believe it ticked many of the boxes for the community.

For those of you who have sent in your contracts, you may withdraw your commitment by sending a notification to:
K@123net.co.za
cc@123net.co.za
install-fibre@123net.co.za

We are already meeting with other interested service providers and will be communicating their offerings shortly.

Regards

The Paulshof Fibre Team

A lot of trenching taking place on Estelle road. Suspect it is Greencom or Metrofibre

I also saw the trenching on Estelle Road, was just not sure if it was Fibre or not. I have recently heard from an estate manager that there will be a fibre line all the way down to Holkam Road so that the estates on Hokam could connect their internal fibre networks to it

First sighting of Vumatel in Paulshof. Two guys were walking with a measuring wheel and a clipboard on Uvongo Road yesterday in their pink Vumatel bibs. It's happening!

Apparently Greencom available... but I'm not a fan as it's tied to them as an ISP and a quick search points to it not being so good.

Likely Greencom

Greencom runs on Metrofibre, so you should not be tied into them, you should be able to use other ISPs like cool ideas and Firestream hopefully.

Also do not want to be tied into one ISP
