FTTH Port Elizabeth

Openserve are currently working on the road in front of my complex. It's a small complex, with only 30 units inside and a couple facing the "public street". It's only 110 m from the edge of our wall to the red road. Will I have access to their fibre?

The thing is, that road has VDSL coverage on Telkom's map, while the houses inside the complex aren't covered. When I phoned Telkom's helpline, the person said that we are fine, that we could be connected to their DSL network.

-The purple rectangle is my house.
-The yellow road is the road inside the complex.
-The red road is the road they're currently working on.
-The blue houses are the outside-facing ones.

So I see that DFA have completed their ring around Fernglen and Sunridge.

Who uses DFA - businesses / ISP's / resellers ? iirc not for end consumers but encouraging still.
 
I see they have also been digging up along cape rd, western suburbs , from St Marks church to Kabega police station. Any news on that?
 
They dug up my road twice a while back and not a single mention of fibre so don't think that if they are digging up close to you that you will get fibre anytime soon.

Probably connecting another Telkom mobile tower or something.

The rollout in PE has been ridiculously slow.
 
Just giving this thread a bump. Wanted to find out if there was any more news to the rollout of fibre up Circular Drive to Lorraine etc?

Thanks for the info - only problem, SADV doesn't have a footprint at all in Port Elizabeth as far as I know, and can see from the map too. This thread does happen to be specifically for Port Elizabeth. :) Just mentioning.

Thank you for your response Just to clarify SADV are 33% owned by DFA and currently do have an existing Fibre infrastructure in Port Elizabeth.

We work closely with both companies and together with them are on a major drive to roll out Fibre into those suburbs in Port Elizabeth which still need to be lit up.

There have also been some queries on this thread with regards to Circular drive. Just to let everyone know we do have existing infrastructure along this road (Green line in image below).

I can assist any complex/estate in Port Elizabeth.

Nice one, good to know. Probably best to provide another link to an updated map to ensure those still looking for Fibre can check it out. :)
 
Someone needs to make a big push into Newton Park. So many businesses and yet nothing is changing on the Fibre maps.

Maybe the rollout is getting screwed by most people taking cheaper packages? It seems like everyone I encounter who also has fibre in PE is running on a much slower speed with a relatively small cap. No clue if this is something that would hurt Openserve or if it's even indicative of wider behaviour.
 
I cannot comment on the likes of Open Serve, but this is not a determining factor for SADV/DFA ("people taking cheaper packages").

Interesting that on cellc's coverage page for fibre they show a lot of the Summerstrand beach front covered by openserve that none of the other maps show... an error?

On another sad note, I see vodacom fibre in summerstrand stops next door to me :(

And their mobile tower on our roof has fibre (non ftth) running into the building
