Hi all
Anyone know whether you can make the S4 use an alternative music player app when it connects to a bluetooth kit with a2dp music streaming?
Having a couple of issues with the native app on mine that are fairly irritating:
1) It loses its "shuffle" setting so I end up stepping through the music on my phone in alphabetical order
2) Doesn't display the track time properly on my car radio (remains at 0. Interestingly the iPhone has the opposite problem - time advances in increments of 2 seconds. Wtf.)
3) Sometimes audio seems to drop out for a tick, and then fade back in. Reboot of the phone makes this go away.

Anyone else finding similar?

Thanks!

In the Leon?

Asking cos I'm about to get the S4 and this would be a deal breaker for me to be honest.

I doubt your Leon has A2DP unless you've done a fair amount of work on it ;)

(new bluetooth kit, new head unit and associated hackery)

I'm using the VW premium bluetooth kit (9W7) and an RNS510 head unit. Could have completely different results on other systems to be honest. A2DP implementations seem to be somewhat random.

Similar problems with my s3, have to disable A2DP audio on my phone when connected to the radio, else whenever I get a message my phone beeps, then my radio switches to the phone audio and repeats the beep, but then the radio doesn't switch back to the radio station I was playing, it's extremely irritating

OK not really the same problem here. My head unit will remain on radio when the phone makes sounds- which are played through the phone's speaker. If the head unit is set on bluetooth audio then the sound plays through the HU, briefly muting the audio.

Playerpro is pretty cool, don't know if it will solve all your problems, but it has a nifty auto start feature when you connect to any bluetooth music device. I have noticed that music seems to stop sometimes, but hitting play on my phone always gets it into continue with no further issues (I have a Picanto).

It's not about starting the music. The car radio is able to start it fine. It's just the hiccups that bug me.
