They just seem to yellow over time. I have an NTSC SNES with the same issue, yet my PAL Super Nintendo cosmetically still looks fine as it did on the day I bought it.

Can only get the DLC once per cartridge...
No problem for me, upload a corrupt save to the game and BAM, you can get the DLC once again.
Snapshot my new saves before sending the DLC to other games and once sent replay the snapshot save to the cartridge.
