As a gamer, which platform do you prefer: PC, Xbox One, or PS4?
PS4.
I don't spend enough time gaming nowadays to justify a high end PC
PC. Wouldn't mind a PS4 to play some of the console exclusives, but no way I'm paying those prices.
It's a misconception that PC gaming is more expensive than console gaming. You can't compare the cost of a gaming PC to the cost of a console, as a gaming PC is also a PC. You can compare what you'd ordinarily spend on a PC and a console to the cost of a gaming PC.
Based on Takealot's current prices:
PS4 console: R6199
1 year of Playstation Plus: R745
3 new games:
- Uncharted 4: R899
- Doom: R899
- Overwatch: R999
Total: R9 741
I can assure you that R10k plus even a conservative figure for a workstation PC (say around R6k) would give you enough money to buy a nice gaming PC and 3 new games.
And then there's the fact that the much lower prices of PC games will drastically lower the long term costs.
Those 3 games on PC:
3 new games:
- Uncharted 4: Console Exclusive
- Doom: R799 (Steam)
- Overwatch: R975.58 (Overwatch site)
So it's only a smidgen cheaper. But here's the thing, you can't trade those pc games. You can buy and buy and amass a huge library whereas on console you can trade and trade and it won't cost you a thing.
Console gaming can be incredibly cheap if you trade games.
PC has its own exclusives. Doom received a big discount in the Steam sale that just ended. Overwatch is pricey, but has been cheaper a few times on sites like G2A. I almost never pay more than R450 for a new or relatively new game.
I would know, seeing as my disposable income increased dramatically after switching from PS3 to PC. And PS4 is even more expensive than PS3. And I think XB1 is even more expensive than PS4 is this country.
Still, that wasn't the point of my post. It was that you can't trade those games. I made it so clear.
Like I said, I game on both PC and XBox One. And have many many games: https://trello.com/b/WHCsPfF2/games
With console game trading you never have to buy a game again. I like buying games but for someone who wants to play casually and not spend a lot of money, console is definitely a good way to go. Buy game, play it, trade it, play traded game, trade it, etc.
Trading doesn't mean a whole lot. You can't trade for a new game unless you have a new game. So you're paying in a difference anyway, and at the expense of losing your games. I often return to my favourite games. So at a similar cost to the most prudent of console game traders I get to play the games I want, when I want and keep them forever.
Why not more than one?
One day we might mature a little and grow beyond platform or gender gamers?
