Gaming Console Comparison

My point is for R4000 - R5000 I can get a monster Graphics card, where as I can get an Xbox 360 for R2000 =/

News articles must be scarce these days. I guess we have to bring this subject up so that Keeper can say things to make himself feel better about not having enough money to buy a console.

Maybe I should sell my 3D card, Then I could buy 2 of 'em :D

nah....still enjoying my blu-ray collection too much....

I don't know why everyone makes such a big fuss over exclusives.

Because developers can spend more time adding features etc to a game instead of making sure the game works on multiple platforms.

You can get an Xbox360 for R2000, which means you won't have,

Wireless network adapter (about R900)
Hard drive (about R1200)
BluRay drive (Cannot get for Xbox)
Free online gaming (about R500 - R600 a year)

True, you might not want it all, but some people do and if you add that to the Xbox, it's more than R5000 in the long run.

Seems to me it only bothers those with a toatal lack thereoff.

To answer ther question, if you cannot play the latest exclusive released you are so much poorer for the better as you never experienced that quality on anything else before. Simple!

goes both ways though .......

*sigh* If you own only an Xbox, you cannot enjoy a PS3 exclusive ..... likewise if you own only a PS3, you cannot enjoy an Xbox exclusive.

exactly, then you would not know what you miss. Specially with some of the latest releases and soon to be released titles. :D *sigh*

For the price of a graphics card? C'mon. A PC is way more expensive.

i own a PC and PS3 ... over the past 12 months i've probably bought over 20 titles for my PC and only 2 for my PS3.

PS3 may seem the cheaper option but when you see the stupid price tag on the games you soon realise that a PC works out much cheaper and MUCH better.

mouse/keyboard ftw ... also why pay R700 for a title that you can get on a PC for R300 ? and in most cases the PC version will be more enjoyable.

my PS3 only gets used for PES2009 when i have friends over and metal gear solid ..... other than that, my PC keeps me occupied -.-

get yourself a good graphics card, 25.5" LCD and a nice set of speakers and you'll never turn back to the PS3 or any other console ever again....

And exclusive games constitute a high percentage of the games released on a particular console?

Of course the Ratchet & Clank games alone are sufficient reason to, eventually, get a PS3. There's never been any question about that. Stuff from Naughty Dog is also likely to be good. But it does not change the fact that there is a huge catalogue of shared games, and that the premium price of the PS3 must therefore be a consideration.

That really just cannot match a console. You have to do what I have generally done - connect the PC to the same screen as the console and use the same sound system.

I have rarely paid as much as R300 for a game. On any system.

personally, the PC experience is better and far superior to the PS3.

you've rarely paid over R300 a game? lol, on which console is that? a decent platinum PS3 title is R379 and their great new games are priced well over R600 a title.

rotfl MGS came out at R850 on release???

Since I've started console gaming I have never looked back ;) Console gaming FTW!

Same here, a few things that bugged me about pc gaming are:

1) Every game wants to install it's own copy protection system
2) Do I have the correct display drivers for the new game
3) Must I update my sound card drivers as well
4) I guess I have to set my graphics to medium, because I could not afford the R7000 card to run on high graphics.

Fantastic...6 pages of rehashed arguments that have played themselves out in multiple threads and in the giant >650 page stickied thread in this very section of the forum.
