Hi all
I'm looking for some quality gaming headphone below R1K.
Been looking at the Coolermaster Sirius 5.1, and its seems to be good.
any other options?
Prefer surround sound, and a microphone.
wireless would be awesome, but obviously bluetooth and not RF.
will be used for BF3, MW3 and a bunch of other shooters and RTS games.

I've had two sets of surrounds. I'm back on a stereo headset. I'm using Sennheiser HD407 - arguably the best cheap headphones out there.

Roccat Kave.

Absolutely amazing! You will hear sounds you've never heard before. Playing a game like battlefield honestly sounds like you are really on a battlefield. It goes for around R700 i think.

Whats wrong with RF? You do know that Bluetooth IS RF, right?

Yep, BT is RF in the broad sense of the word, but I'm talking about the traditional specific frequency/base station type headphones, i don't want something with a base station emitter. I prefer Bluetooth so i can pair to my pc/tablet/phone if and when i need to.

Are the KAVE's surround sound?

Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

Not worth it, save R400 more and get Sennheiser HD555.

Then for next purchase, a Xonar sound card.

This really look like a nice set. But is there something that has got an USB interface, as i dont have a "front pannel" connector and i dont feel like moving my PC around to switch between headset and speakers.

firstly just remember currently hardly any stock of kaves in the country and no eta of new stock.

I would just buy g35s, no need for extra sound card, voice cancellation mic , and its virtual 7.1

Takealot > US imports

Remember we talking quality here, not Mickey Mouse PC brand stuff.

Then Zalman clip on mic is available here for about R50

Trust me, the Kaves are extremely uncomfortable, yes the 5.1 surround is good but really not worth the heavy, bulky piece of plastic on your head.

Go with Pots idea : Any Sennheiser HD range + Xonar = winner.

If you HAVE to go with a gaming headset.. i would Logitech G35's, Steel Series Siberia V2.

Personally i tested my Sennheiser combo vs my mates G35. I rofled when i heard his.

+1

No comparison. It's crazy spending R1.1 on junk considering quality is only R600 away.

Rather buy some R200 jobbie and save.
