What I want to find out from other gamers in SA is what ISP they use, and are they happy. I am on an Afrihost uncapped business account and this video pretty much sums up my current experience. https://plus.google.com/…/+LintonCaldeco…/posts/CfLw7NJmvjK…
all the lags in the whole world.
Afrihost claim they have loads of people gaming on their network without issue. I am in CT and the guy I play with most often is in JHB, we are both on afrihost, he has a capped account, I am uncapped business. We both experience the same issue. Also, if anyone is on snowball wireless, what is your experience with them. 10mb uncapped for R1000 seems pretty good.

I am that other guy @linton is talking about. This is becoming an issue. It is not all games and it is not always, but it is often enough to be a real pain.

Here is a sample of my experience: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+Christ...6103528959052840498&oid=107100035722141258079

With a game like StarCraft it is almost impossible to play. Things have happened that you cannot react to in time because of the lag. Help would be much appreciated.

I had the same experience with Afrihost.(Reason I cancelled my capped account with them)
I am using Web Africa for gaming and have no issues, grab a trial account and test it out.

Afrihost is unusable on Xbox One at the moment as well. Party chat keeps dropping, and I get kicked out of games constantly. Also battle to search for games. Any kind of peer 2 peer connections seems unstable. Changing to Webafrica resolves the problem.

I am on Afrihost Business as well. When heir network is running smoothly, I have no issues whatsoever. I play mostly European leagues, and the ping is pretty constant as well. No complaints here, for the most part.

Afrihost is building this big advanced, configurable network, so they say.
Which is great, and I hope it turns out well, but it's been a long time as a paying customer to constantly have network issues.
I frankly don't care how advanced things are when the teething problems are a constant annoyance. I'd rather pay on a less advanced network that actually works with some sort of consistency. When afrihost sorts out their junk and can offer me the benefits of their network without the drawbacks then I would be happy to hand over my money. Right now, I am pretty grumpy at debit order day.

Well, with this ongoing complaint afrihost promises they will get back to me today with regard to my latency issues. The guy helping me is very efficient and friendly, I have had good service from him. Honestly I hope the resolve the issue cause their client zone dashboard thing is top notch, and their service is good. But in reality I am expecting them to tell me it's not the afrihost network and a whole lot of other things... and how amazingly ground breaking their network is.

Cape Town Afrihost was on both capped and uncapped, never had a problem with Starcraft II, are you sure it's the Afrihost account? Have you tried free accounts from webafrica or others? Also, SC2 uses p2p, so does Diablo3.

You should make a post in the Afrihost uncapped/capped feedback threads, they will try and help you out. Do you have any tracerts you can show during your gaming? Line speeds would also help.

I can't see the video anymore, looks like it's been removed.

We have a lot of gamers on our network and we do pay a lot of attention to the reports we get of poor experience. However, it's really important to troubleshoot and look for what unique (or common) factors determine why one set of clients may have a different experience to the majority of gamers on the network.

I believe our team are already working with you to try to resolve this, but if you feel like you need more help, please drop me a PM.

Generally uncapped accounts are not great for gaming. Many ISP's regard gaming as low priority.

I use Afrihost. Been fine. Last 2days have been a bitty laggy in the evenings. But not much. Switching to Web africa resolves the issue if I have any serious issues with Afrihost. I use a capped account.

I use Afrihost capped and pings are good to EU Diablo 3 at 250-290ms. The US server is around 370-390ms. This is from DBN.
