Gas unavailability ?

Where are you situated? That's spot on pricing for 9kg in Gauteng but an overcharge at the coast.

This gets complicated as the cost of the bottle itself isn't regulated, only the gas.

Paid R600.00 for my 9k bottle on 29 June 2020 at a Sasol garage (Pta East); was R235.20 to refill. R960,48 with vat...

This was at the 5th or 4th garage which had some bottles left and I decided ****it, just get them.

oh nm. but as I said landing on the 4th/5th garage, in the middle of fixing dinner... I just caved and got it. It's the one in Lynnwood road across pizza vino (Lynnridge Mall, Corner Lynnwood Road & Jacobson Drive, Lynnwood, Pretoria).

I was including VAT. R235.2*1.15 = R270.48
R270.48/9 = R30.05/kg

I know the feeling of needing something right away, but that's why I started the thread on maximum prices. As consumers we should be more aware so that dealers don't rip us off.

In Gauteng. So that seems correct. R800 odd rand for a bottle is excessive. The best was lady behind the counter said it's your bottle to keep. I don't want the bottle. I want to exchange it when it comes time to refill.

Leroy Merlon had the bottles with gass for R540. Unfortunately they were out of stock when I went today.
 
Hi guys,

For those who ordered from Gas giant, how did you add the cylinder levy? I've gone through the steps up to payment but I don't see anything. I phoned them now and the lady says she doesn't know how the online ordering works.

Edit: I see, I needed to click on the deposit not the refill.

Gas Giant just delivered after I placed the order last night. Very efficient service. However...

Just installed the gas bottle in my 3 panel heater. For the life of me I cannot get the panels to light. The pilot flame isn't very bright. My old bottle in and it works fine. Any ideas as to how to solve this? Airlock in the bottle? Bad gas?

Looks like a new bottle. Easigass on the side of it.

They might have over filled it. Take it outside and let some of the gas out. Happened to me before.

Just some clarity on this. That gas field holds natural gas, mainly made up of methane. The LPG which we buy in bottles is a mix of propane and butane and is produced from refining crude oil, natural gas or coal.
