This is truly great news. I can see the general direction this is headed and when me and your 6 year old daughter fall in love we will also have the right to get married.

Awesome - just what I always wanted :D

Also as an individual - I can't wait for the time when I have the right to kill you because you trampled on one of my rights. That is sorely lacking in this country

What most people do not understand is that although individuals have rights they should not be placed above the rights of a society that are in place to keep good order.

... the head of state of the UK (the queen) is the head of the Church of England and even the Houses of Parliment have clergy sitting in the House of Lords ... if a nation can be built on this and it can be said that the sun never sets on it's empire then I don't think you can blame Christianity... ;)
She's head of the Church of England, she is not a Catholic. They broke away from the Catholic church. The British empire is long gone. The sun sets on it everyday and has done for over half a century.

Exactly so while some may feel they have the right to discriminate, the right to beat and murder a certain minority, we are passing laws that ensure that those minorities get equal rights.

Silly logical fallacies.

So when you try to marry my 6 year old daughter I'll have the right to beat you to death with a cudgel...sounds like good order will be maintained

I never said she was Catholic ... and I know the British Empire is long gone, my point was that it is not gone because of the religion

So what you're saying is that you do not accept guys to be with guys just because you say so... not that you have a problem with a gay guy... if he was single and still a virgin then you'll accept him - right ? How narrowminded of you!

you know, i typed this long thing lightly flaming you and desided to delete it because if you believe what you believe, you're not going to change your mind as change takes time. just... stop fantasizing about looking at our equipment, and how we use it - because that's my job as a gay man, you fantasize about your favourite fishcake flavour, and hopefully you will become friends with some guy, and somewhere along the line you will find out he's got a boyfriend - if you're going to reject his friendship on that basis and what he does in bed - then you're truly a Jarr head!. :)
hey, look, i think you misunderstood me here. i'm not going to reject friendship with someone because of their sexual preference (although it might limit what we do together :)). sure, i might not agree with it, but then, people don't necessarily agree with everything their friends do/believe, do they? that's all i meant with 'accepting the person not the action'.

and, um, the 'equipment' thing was meant tongue in cheek, but there's no smiley for that, so i used the stick-out-tongue-smiley-thingy ;) i'm quite happy to let you keep that 'job', really :)

Divorce was invented by the English
Rubbish. Divorce was mentioned already in the time of Moses. So it would have even originated even before that.
... whatever... seems the history is quite complex - in terms of Chuch of England, Anglicans, Protestants, whatever... point being the split with the catholic church and the fact that these marriages are legal in terms of the law - but not necessarily the church (and not the catholic church.)

'We don't want this nonsense' Hmm, better logic rationale from a traditional leader

'Kills African traditions'

"This bill will kill all African traditions and customs," argued Sicelo Nkosi on behalf of the provincial house of traditional leaders. "We will also not (conduct marriage ceremonies) for these people. How do you marry a man and a man, who then becomes the woman?"
Well stated valid question asked! I presume the biggest @ss! :D

No one needs to become the "woman".

Anyway, while not being a pro-religion person, I do think the church has the right to not accept gay marriages. According to what stands in their religious book, its a no no. Just like I cant be in the Christian Church if i'm a follower of the Islamic religion. Its their little party and thus their little rules count...

Why so interested? Are you concerned that when you finally give in to your urges that you might become someones bitch? ;)

He also said legalising "vat en sit" relationships would encourage men not to pay their lobola. "Vat en sit" relationships are when couples lived together without getting married.

Oh so thats what this is really about is it? Control. Anything that allows people more freedom must be a bad thing. Well for tribal leaders and parents anyway. Guess the old folks will have to be nicer to the kids now in hopes that they will be taken care of in their dotage. I mean whats the point of having daughters and raising them if your going to be denied being able to sell them off and getting a return on your investment.

I don't really think that's a fair comparison. Anyway, how is allowing gay people to marry going to threaten the good order of society?

Agreed absolutely.

Our society is not, however, "their little party". They can play in their own playground with their own rules, but they have no right to insist that we all have to play by their rules.

In the preamble of our constitution of our country it states

"May God protect our people.
Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika. Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso.
God seën Suid-Afrika. God bless South Africa.
Mudzimu fhatutshedza Afurika. Hosi katekisa Afrika."

Now which God are they referring to here perhaps ???.

Although our country is secular in nature and we seperate church and state it is rather clear that our society and it's values is supposedly based on the Christian faith.

well the secular nature of South Africa is the reason why it states, God or Nkosi and not Allah ( PBUH), Mohammed (PBUH), Jehova, Krishna, or J3SUS bless us

BTW (It's really sad that J3SUS is regarded as profanity on this forum)

I think its a desperate attempt at attention; and the conecpt of marriage is brought in a religious context in the first place and now being "adapted" by gay couples... Why?

They're unique as it is; why do they have this inept desire to conform? Why try to be normal - right? Isn't unique better?

My judgement is not upon what they want to do; but simply the point in this. Marriage is not the answer; the laws maybe just need to change a bit; like for instance; gay couples can be on the same medical aid; or be the beneficiary in case of death etc etc.

I dont know much about these things and I do not see myself as gay (I am actually married to a gorgeous chick - luv her to bits) but I do believe that we should never sacrifice our uniqueness;

Catch a wakeup gay liberation; create your own ways; dont try and conform to other's ways.

oh yeah PS - have a nice day -0-0-0-0 hahahaha
