When I connect using my GConnect account (via router), the ip address that I am assigned is not replying when trying to connect from the outside.

Works fine for all other accounts.

1. DynDns does not update when using GConnect.
2. No traffic can get to the router.

Do we all get assigned the same public IP?

They very much makes use of a natted network, do a traceroute and you will see lots of 10.x ips. Basically they make use of vodacoms network so should be pretty much the same as that.

Another "catch" which is proving to be a hassle. I don't need to connect home very often, but when I need to it's really nice when it works!

These are not Vodacom IP addresses, rather what is referred to as Bogon IP addresses.

Basically the free IP address ranges that all NATted computers use.

If that's the case then they're not a proper ISP, they should be giving you an IP address that can be routed. If not then the price should be very low.

lol. I know what natted ips are. But they are using vodacom ips. Don't believe me?

It is a NAT but a full one to one NAT as per the userguide, this means each user gets his own public IP for the duration of his session. If you go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ you will see this.

In other words dont try and connect to the IP assigned to your router but rather your nat IP.

Thats the IP I'm trying to connect to - the external one. It's a no go.

Doesn't work internally either on the 41. ip address. I've not changed anything - but the username and password to GConnects one.

No, not changed anything.

Could it be something to do with both of us being on GConnect? (assuming you are)
