General coffee thread

Noice, currently I'm in the office, where my choice is some kinda beans that taste as if they are from the pits of a toilet or instant cappuccino. No wonder I'm so grumpy.
We staged a protest (via email of course filled with memes and long diatribes….) - now the powers are trialing new machines and beans.

We live in hope

Ours would just point to the numerous coffee shops around :-(

They’re desperately trying to get people in to the office….one of the points we made is that they’re actively driving us out 🤣
I've got a feeling the coffee shops are wanting the same thing here, plus they are in cahoots... It all makes sense, though I am still trying to figure out the disintegrating toilet paper.

Beans do go bad. Me and Redviking had a wee discussion about it after I could not get presure on the coffee machine. Bought new beans and everything as allright again.

Yeah and good chance company bought in bulk and those bags of coffee have been in the cupboard for months.

I've actually thought a couple of times if there is any market for a corporate coffee subscription type thing where coffee gets delivered weekly.

We get Deluxe Coffee Works beans and it's a proper Jura machine, but even so if it's not fresh it doesn't really help.

I used something like that at home https://notbadcoffee.co.za/

In the corporate world at the moment the hustle is to rent out the machine and then supply beans with the machine. The issue there is that they actually are bitchy enough to void the warranty if you use "other" beans. Which is a complete load of bullock's.
I suppose its so that you don't put any old crap in the machine, but the fact that you can only use their beans is just grift.

We had a rental machine at the office and were limited to one type of bean and it just wasn't great.
We ended up just purchasing the machine and tried different beans till we found something that worked.

Yeah I know a previous company I was at did that, fortunately we own them all.

All this coffee talk, I thought I should have my once a month cup…

Bought this recently. Extremely good even though the grind is a bit rough for mokka. But packed the mokka tighter than usual and it came out perfectly.
