Two questions :

* If a shutter speed of 1/2000 stops a hummingbird or a water drop - would you need 1/4000 or even 1/8000 for?
* I read somewhere (can't remember where) that aperture also effects the way a light source is shown ... like either round or a star. Is that right?

Highlights are affected by the size of the aperture. If you do long exposures at f/16, you'll see street lights, for example, showing up as stars. I don't know if there are any other effects - I haven't really noticed.

Yes. It's affected by the shape and number of the blades in the aperture.
 
A friend lent me his 500mm f/4 for the cricket last night and I was blown away by it. It may just replace he 400mm as my dream lens.
 
Guys, I have a Canon AE-1 camera with what looks like a new Canon Lens 50mm 1:1.8 S.C. I obviously have not tested the camera and want to sell/swop it. Google tells me it is an old camera so what price should I be looking at as a selling price should someone want to buy it?
 
Anyone know how I can keep the shutter on my 400D open for more than 10 minutes without having to hold the shutter button down?
