Some of us have day jobs... And I don't know a heck of a lot about Pinholes - there are better sources out there.

I've been meaning to buy another cap to try that, but I just don't get around to. These last few weeks I've barely managed to use my camera at all.

Yea know that feeling about not picking up the camera :D
I mainly muck about with lights and a backdrop at the moment
Dying to try it in the field so to speak
 
What free "editing" program do you guys recommend. I am looking to make the photo's into gray scale/sepia, add some effects, brighten/darken etc etc.

Try Gimp. :) I think it is the closest you will get to Photoshop.

+1. But on that note, I got the newest [-]Photoshop[/-]PhotoShop Pro (for free, along with other awesome goodies) when I bought a camera yesterday morning :D

You sure Photoshop? Photoshop costs a whole lot more than the cameras commonly discussed here.

Which camera (and where are the pics)?

Yip... it's gonna run me down R7k for the lens that I want (I don't touch cheap lenses, made that mistake once before)...

I have CS3 at the moment Froot. Love the programmes, especially Photoshop.:p

Gimp I really only use when I want to resize a photo very quickly.

Congratulations on your new Canon, I have the 400D.

Why not get something like Lightroom (Aperture if you're fortunate enough to be a mac user) and do it in house (and keep it in RAW)?

Gimp seems a bit (ok more than a bit) pointless if you have access to PS3.

I would love to do that Bwana, but I am not a mac user. I would also love to do it in RAW and even develop my own photos.

Gimp is pretty pointless if you have CS3, I agree. I just resize my photos there sometimes as it starts up much quicker than Photoshop.

You can also use DPP or look into Bibble. Both should do basic colour corrections in a non-destructive way so all your original data remains unaffected by your editing.

I dont shut PS3 down until the end of the day :o Apparently CS4 starts up much faster.

I will hopefully be able to purchase CS4 soon. It is a hell of a lot of money though.

I am looking at the Master's Collection which is around R25000 now.
