General Photography

I’m sure there are cameras with better af especially on Sony apparently but the af on Fuji works great.

I wouldn't bother with new, there's very little advantage buying new and for your budget you'll barely get a camera body. I’d start with a Fuji Xt3 with the amazing kit 18-55mm F2.8-4 kit lens, i've seen that combo going for around R15k.
I have xt3 and same lens, it is great combo, even use it for videos.

Go and check cameras in person, see how they feel size wise and if ergonomic suit you.

Cameraworld, Orms deliver and are good guys so you can order online second hand stuff.
Also closer to you you have Kameraz and Outdoor photo which are also good.

I wanted to get into photography would you suggest going on a course? I don't have a camera yet but im going to get one I just need to get the right one. I know Orms do courses.
Any advice would be great. Thanks

If you have money to burn then do a course by all means but there are countless great websites and Youtube videos explaining every aspect of photography you could ever hope to know.

Besides youtube you can join local photography club.
Often they organize day courses and outings where you can learn a lot.
Some brands like Fuji organize walks where you can also ask plenty of questions (Promenade walk was planed last week but cancelled due to weather. I'll PM you when is next one).
I like walks since I can see how other people view certain subjects.

I did BW film development and printing with ORMS and normal photography one, both were good.

Do you maybe have a place I can look at for the Fuji Camera, I have a friend that also has a Fuji and I like the look and feel of the camera and he also has lenses that I can borrow to learn which helps a lot.

Check out

I think they are your side.

anyone own a Fuji X-H2S, or has even tried it against an X-T4 for wildlife photography.. obviously wildlife doesn't just mean a falcon doing 300kph, wildlife can be almost still or walking movement. Let's just say Kruger Park animals 😋

I have it and it is good body, better than xt3 that I have but for my needs both are great.
Ergonomics, battery life might be more important since in recent years all bodies are great.
You should be fine with both. (I think I did Botswana with XT2)

Turns out that the longevity isn't so great - after less than 7 months the trigger and flash tube need replacing and they're not covered by the 12 month warranty. Not as keen on Godox any more.
That sucks, I have two of those 685 flashes and they haven't given any issues, flashes are normally the most reliable part of a camera setup, going by past experience, typically they are ridiculously robust.
How hard did you work them and by trigger do you mean the remote trigger you put in the camera hotshoe?

I took it pretty easy on it - a few press conferences, some 1/8th power fill for some portrait sessions. If they were robust I don't think Godox would only guarantee them for 14 days ;)

The trigger is some internal thing.

As for longevity my 300mm f/4 was manufactured in 1992 and my f/4 70-200 in 2006. My oldest working flash is probably 7-8 years old.

Do you think upgrading from an X-T30 (the first version) to the X-H2S, rather than the X-T4. Or just stick with the X-T30. I shoot with the Fuji 100-400. Mainly love wildlife photography...
Can I ask what lenses you use for your wildlife shooting?
