Eneloop. The AA's are hard to find in SA last time I checked, but Sybaritic has the AAA's I use for triggers.

Best brand I've ever used.
 
Before an event I'll usually charge up a few sets of Uniross Rechargeable Performance (2700mAh) for use on the day. They're powerful but they don't hold their charge indefinitely.

In my bag I've always got half a dozen sets of Uniross Hybiro (2100mAh) which will hold their charge much longer and are, IMHO, more than adequate for day to day use.

I've been using Energizers like these of various capacities for years for various purposes and have yet to find reason to bin a set. I currently have a set of 12 of these 2300mAh 'extreme' rechargeable (the batteries themselves look exactly the same as the pre-'extreme' ones, just the packaging that's different) that I use for my flash, and they work a treat. If I had to guess, I'd say I get between 80 and 100 full-power shots out of a set on a Yongnuo YN568EX

*edit* My oldest pair are 2450mAh ones that have, despite being recharged well over a thousand times now, managed to continue providing almost as long a duration of use in a wireless mouse as when I first got them. I got that pair somewhere around 2005 and have used them in a Logitech MX610 and the mouse that comes with the EX100 set. One of them still provides around two days (so ~30 hours) of power in a Logitech G700, which is around the same as the new Eneloop 2000mAh that comes with the mouse.

Had a set of energizers but wasn't impressed tbh. Was considering a revisit but Makro had the hybrios on sale 6 for r99 iirc) and bought as many as I could carry.
 
Should be picking up a 6D tomorrow.. When the hell did the prices jump this much? Orms and SACamera have it for R21k-R22k.

Randhir make sure you look up everywhere you can think of - i've saved quite a few k finding places that must be holding older stock eg 105mm macro lens. R11500 Orms vrs SAcamera R12200 vrs Studio 22 R9300

I'm getting the 6D for R19 300 (hope they hold the price until I can buy it, if not tomorrow then Saturday). Was thinking about importing but I'd rather go this way.

I got mine directly from Canon and saved about R2k (6D kit with 24-105mm L lens). This was a couple of months ago.

I do know that, but I went to have a look at it not too long ago, and it was around R18k, and this was after the previous hike earlier this year.

Anyway, I just want my camera now :D
