The drive is in a SERIOUSLY cold environment and I am just sequentially reading the drive and dumping the raw data stream onto a new drive in an image.... and the parsing the image with a recovery tool.
ATM I've got the contents of my drive (copy 1), my time machine back up (copy 2) and then my Aperture vault (copy 3). The time machine backup and the vault are in two different buildings.+1
When my laptop got stolen along with my backup drive, that gave me a major fight. I now have a backup disc that stays home (mirror of my laptop's hard drive with SuperDuper!), one that goes on the road with me, a storage server at home, my photos get synced to my server, and my photos plus documents, etc, goes up to JungleDisk.

Obviously cloud storage isnt feasible here - I hate to think how expensive, and time consuming, it would be to backup my recently trimmed 165gb aperture vault. Time for a drobo I think.
