Strawman.

What ISIS did with historical monuments is not the same thing.

Those were cultural icons and not specific statues of individuals.

Vandalism in specific contexts can be a legitimate expression of free speech.
Destroying historical monuments is not the same as destroying historical monuments?

He is going to be declared mentally unfit during his first year so that they can appoint the first black female president.
I can actually see something as delirious as that happening, he is clearly unable to properly string any kind of coherent sentence together.

Okay then we need to immediately destroy any statues of Mahatma Gandhi and remove anything named after him.

Why? Because he was a racist. Its well documented that he was racist against black people. He only really cared about benefitting Indians.

We should also refer to him by his given name, which was Mohandas, and not Mahatma, which means Great Soul.

I mean, racism means any of the other things he did are automatically null and void right?

Was it a collective ANC decision or not?
Let me remind you...
Why should it be moved if it affronts some? Why pander to people who is only interested in destruction?

Mandela ordered the murder of innocents, should we not be tearing down his statues?

He did not. MK may have been involved in the armed struggle at the time but where was he when the bombings happened?

That would be ludicrous, isn't it? Besides, Mandela was fighting the system and not white people. The struggle against apartheid was a struggle against the government and its policies.
You know, that kind of "he was fighting the system so all was permitted" mentality means that as soon as the mob turns against the ANC they will tear everything between it and them to literal pieces...... "we are fighting the system, all is permitted"

Must be nice having your head that deep into the sand.

The one's he was imprisoned for or the ones that happened after?

What are you on about now? Wasn't he fighting apartheid? Weren't there white liberals working with the ANC at the time?

Edit: He has never based his fight on race. PAC were the ones engaged in a race war, at some point vowing to expel white out of the country. This was never Mandela's stance.

No he was fighting for power using apartheid as an excuse, he wanted SA to become a socialist state and his ego drove everything he did.

Yes there were white leftists and stupid liberals working with the ANC at the time. I remind you that most of the leadership of the SACP for most of it's history was not only white but jewish. The black leadership only increased in the middle of the last century. And the SACP mostly did the thinking of the ANC.

Banksy's new artwork shows US flag set alight by a candle as part of memorial to anonymous, black, silhouetted figure.

British artist Banksy showed his support for the Black Lives Matter movement with a painting he posted to his Instagram account on Saturday portraying a candle vigil under a United States flag.

In the post, the secretive artist, who rose to fame for his graffiti, writes that the system is failing people of colour, and it is the responsibility of white people to fix the system, not theirs.

/facepalm

My participation ends here. You may rant on.

Nelson was released in Feb '90 and MK suspended the armed struggle in March.

Please link to MK bombings after that.

The only thing that should be honored about the Confederacy is its defeat and the freeing of slaves. The Confederacy was a disgrace to American history.

The protests are a way of un-erasing history. Statues are not history, they are public symbols of values.
I reckon the history of its leaders should be honored just as the northern side, im not american so i wouldnt know the attachement to it though.

By all means you can go ahead, no issues from my side.

Since we are airing our opinions/facts.

He ordered bombs to be planted in venues where his organization could via terrorism kill innocents. He was a terrorist.

His organization routinely tortured and killed blacks that did not fall into line. Also terrorism.

He lifted the ban on abortions making him a mass murderer of babies..... with abortion alone he is probably responsible for killing more blacks than the NP and British combined.

Yes, Mandela is implicated. In history, where correctional services apply, it can be constitutionally said that Mandela promoted equality. European history is drenched in revolutions, anarchy and subversions. There is a lot in our own history which is unknown, why racial, cultural and traditional integration didn’t sprout. We aren’t scholars, our entire democracy is based on Apartheid’s abolishment, not on what happened prior to Apartheid though colonialism has become a politicking medium.

To get back to the point, Mandela as a president is hardly the known terrorist. A person like Mugabe was a hero once… People inherently cannot change, but we can become better people. Entities (and organisations) are people, and those people collectively make an entity. The ANC is an entity, where are the ANC's alignment now?

No, people aren’t inherently racist. It is stupid saying IMHO. Education starts at home, home is where most peoples perception takes root and systematically we are introduced to other individuals and groups with their unique ideologies. We are all sculpted by exposure and our interactions.

Don't mix after release with after entrance. I don't know the capacity he had to issue orders from prison.

As for violence and his release, quick google

“[t]he early 1990s saw a dramatic escalation in levels of violence in South Africa. I witnessed some of this violence myself. I remember seeing burning tyres around Black necks. Black mothers in unbearable pain clutching their dead children. It is reported that, from the start of the negotiations in mid-1990 to our first democratic election in April 1994, some 14 000 South Africans died in politically related violence. I have seen footage of the human carnage of Black bodies at Boipatong and Bisho. Those bodies sprawled in dust had names, hopes and dreams.”

That was the ANC and other black groups that did that not the NP

Honk Honk

You are digging yourself deeper.

There is no free speech justification for vandalism. Elsewise, would you be so brave as to volunteer to have a Trump sticker placed on your car so that the non-violent and peaceful protestors can destroy it?
