Gibbs Retirement

Devill, leave the insults to the soccer threads. :D

Cricket is changing, and I'm not sure there's space for someone like Kallis in our 50 over team anymore (and certainly not the 20 over team - don't make the same mistake the Royal challengers did. :( ). He richly deserves cricketer of the year for his test performances, but seriously, he is not always the best option for the shorter games.

Some players are better at the longer version - some are better at the shorter version of the game, that's why cricket is great.

yea i do now because i got tired of watching kallis destroy our game

after all these years im still amazed he gets selected

the aussies would never in their life play a batsmen who cannot score runs fast and thats why they are the best in 50 and 5 day cricket

kallis would never even make the aussie 5 day team because he bats to slow, even in the 5 day game the aussies aim for 4-5 runs an over

we are happy to see kallis make 110 of 370 balls, he does it all the time and then gets cricketer of the year, they forgot to add the slowest but best cricketer of the year

Wow i am amazed you dont write articles for Wisden.....

the Ausies themselves said"we do not understand how SA cricket can leave Kallis out of any team" - with refrence to him not playing in the pro20 WC

but anyway, i mean what do the ausies know

What insults?

Yeah i know kallis is not the fatest bat around but he is an above average bowler and we have enough 50/50 hitters in the team:)

Smith AB Boucher Morkel.....also mckenzie can hit a long ball.

If i knew Gibbs / morkel / AB / Boucher would score runs 70% of the time i would agree to drop kallis from the ODI team....but we all know that has not happened :)

no dont worry your comment about soccer was not an insult dont worry :)

yes i will agree with one thing though, to often we sit at 30/3 or something like na dhis batting does help us

i just feel when we really need to apply pressure and keep the run rate going he is not the man, in fact often i have wished that he goes out

also im sure alot of teams will try keep him at the crease if he comes in and we are going strong, because they know he will mess up our run rate

They were using reverse psychology so that we can put Kallis in the team - hence we bat slow and the Aussies capitalise :)

yeah well we will see how cricket changes.....

plz give me a link where they say this

i wont believe that not for one second until i see proof

mmmmmm

ok so i did not remember it 100% :o but still gilchrist says here that kallis is still respected around the world in any format of the game....

Anyway ...... i can't wait for the tests in England :)

What Adam Gilchrist has to say about Kallis
