YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumors have it, Gibbs is considering retirement from international cricket.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best news I've heard all day.

I laughed when I read cricinfo yesterday. First item, some West Indian administrator complaining that if the boys in WI put down the weed they'd have a much better team. Related item: Herschelle Gibbs considering retirement. :D

Would be a pity IMO. There's nobody in SA that can match an on-form Gibbs. :(

Sure the Cobras will be happy to have him.
Don't think he'll retire though, just bad form and he needs to put some effort in.

I rate Gibbs, excellent on the field and when on form deadly with the bat. Wont be good to loose him.

PS, i think the speculation is he will retire from test cricket, not ODI's or T20?

The only effort he puts in is into his drinking and his 'recreational' smoking!

His only fault is that he got caught, whereas the others havent been, yet.

I don't care that he does what he does.
Just leave that shyte off the field.

Have you seen him at a cricket match? (not on TV but Live)

He actually looks like he doesn't care anymore.

At one match at Newlands, I actually asked him to plase try play properly.
You know what he said back? "ok man, i'll try man"

His score for that match was like 7 or something off 15 balls.

Thanks for f'ing nothing!

The lower end batsmen did better!

You may remember, he's the guy who hit 6x6 and won that 438 game against the Aussies for us.

Sure, he's not been in great form recently, but it would be a great loss not to see him play in intl cricket again. And he's a lot more fun to watch than Kallis, Prince, Amla, Boucher, even Smith.

What is the acceptable response to an off the field smartarse?

I wasn't being a smart ass... I was actually being nice... I didn't ask him to play properly, I asked him to have a good game...

I went to all Newlands matches, every match, i'd listen to people around me talk about how gibbs was gonna win the day, I'd just sit there and roll my eyes...

Lol, maybe if you didnt chirp the guy while he is trying to concentrate on the field he might have played better hehehe.

I have seen Kallis and Smith play like crap, doesnt mean they should retire, sometimes they just off form.

True, and they came back.

Andrew Strauss from England had a long run of bad form, got dropped, and he's back to his best now.
Gibbs just needs to grow up a bit, ok a lot.

Yup, Smith is back on form and his consistent performance in the IPL is proof of that.

(As a side, Kiptly cup on at the moment some cracking batting from the Indians against pakistan 173/2 after 23 overs should be a big total)

I'd hate to see Gibbs go. If he's not entertaining on field, rest assured he'll make up for it with his off-field antics :D

Yeah, true... I must suck!

But when he plays 1 horrible match, fine, all's forgiven, 2 matches, ag, just a bad season, 3 matches, really now? 4 matches? 5 matches?

Need I carry on?!!?

@Killa I've noticed that you like saying sis all the time....interesting.

It will be sad to lose him, but oh well if the thrill is gone, then nothing can bring it back, maybe he just needs some time.

To the previous post about Kallis....oh please, Kallis can only have a good game, cause so far, pretty much ever game he plays in, sucks big time. Maybe just sit him down again and explain to him, that in limited over you need to score as quickly as possible

kallis should not be in our limited over games

its not his fault he keeps getting selected

he is a test player end of story

Yep. Didn't realise it was on an was flicking through the channels just in time to see Sehwag go out. That Indian team is a great team - will be hard to beat in ODIs or 20/20, IMO. Good to see the IPL performers in the team - Yusuf Pathan, Chawla, Raina as well as the usual Indian stars. :)
