Golf mk6 gti or something else?

scirocco. Stand out a little ;)

An with regards to the interior of the megane, the sports interior looks cheap. but the cup looks awesome!

Trying to find a price.

Ah....i see.....it sounds like an overall painful experience :)
GTI or scirocco then? They are same price?

Rocco... yes ... with babies a 3-door is a no-no.
I belive though to enjoy the car while you can.
I still dont regret buyiny my 3-door 2.0T - still miss it.
Its the only chance you going to get to drive a fast hatch and a sedan nor SUV is not comparable.

I had a look at it, but my ceiling is around 330k.... extra 39k doesnt sound like a heck of alot, but i need to set a limit somewhere.....
Love the car though, but i also dont want to be driving a wrx wishing i had the STI...

I know that the extra is often the bit that breaks the camel's back, but the new WRX is certainly no Sti wannabe. It's actually the more sensible car to buy out of the pair...and it has fold down rear seat for the baby's pram! ;)

Get a Scirocco instead. Same engine, same price, and not as common.

You should get a new Prius. 0-100's not quite as quick as you'd like, but it fits the bill for a dad's car - very spacious and fuel efficient too! :D

We have traded in a 4 month old WRX on a new STi - you can drive away from here for 320k

who does this? buys it then decides they want an STI...
U have a point though....will go test drive one and see if it grabs me

I could, and its very tempting...but i think i will stick with the cars that kill trees and small rodents

Hehe, that's one of the more polite responses I've had to my mandatory Prius recommendation.

Dude, I had the same problem 3 months ago when shopping for a new vehicle. My head was set on the Hyundai ix 35 which i still love but HATED the 3month wait for what i wanted. Ended up going for the GTI (Yes plenty on the road, but so is Merc, BMW, etc.....). I feel u buy the car that u like and not what others hate to see....Honestly...I LOVE MY GTI and every bit of it. Can Cruise with it or Belt it on the open roads. I have a 4 Month old baby and we have no problems in terms of space for traveling around. Just DON'T DRIVE fast with a baby in IT (Or i will hunt you down). I think you will be amazed with the drive....cos i sure was

I was in the same position looking for a car a couple of months ago to keep me going for the next few years before I settle with marraige and kids etc. Ordered a new GTI but then started looking at the used car market. I was one of those people that said I'd never buy used. There is much more value to be had and you dont lose much on resale. Ended up going for a used 350z (<200k) and have never looked back. Much more X-factor and power (and sound :) and will see me through the next few years before settling. Spent 2 months looking around though before I found exactly what I wanted. I loved this car from day one. Will even keep it on the side once I do settle and get something more family friendly for the kids.

When are you planning on buying?

Seeing as you are deciding between the 120d and a VAG I would definitely say go for the Beemer. There is just so many boring hausfrau hatches (Golfs) on the roads that you will look like a moron if you buy one. The BMW is a much better driver's car.

Alternatively, if you could do with a little less power, you can go for the new Astra Sport 1.6 Turbo - it should save you R20k since they are priced at R280k.

If you can wait until next year you might want to have a look at the new Focus ST or perhaps the OPC version of the Astra (not sure it will come to SA).
But whatever you do try to be original and not a crowd follower. Do not buy a VAG.

Go golf 6 gti dude!

Or go Alfa Romeo giulietta QV...also same price
