Golf mk6 gti or something else?

Honda hybrids are pretty exciting cars, not only in their styling but also the way they perform - you would not say they were hybrids actually.

What about the new Reneault Megane Sport Cup?

http://www.renaultsportsa.co.za/megane_specs.php

So i did some research on this car...and it seems to be quite a machine..
prices are 360k for normal, 390k for the cup..
which is strange, because all online reviews i have seen place the cup as cheaper (it has no dual aircon etc etc)?
Unfortunately, the renault salesguy wouldnt let me test drive it, and said its only available end december, he also admitted the price would prob be a little more by then...

That Renault is a very sexy car indeed. But you can get something with a similar behind and much nicer front :

Looks i am not that much into, the performance of the renault is hard to beat....
although it doesnt lend itself to the "family" car that well

I still see no reason to buy a CR-Z over a Civic Type R besides looks. 91 vs 148 kW. And it's not like the Type R is an ugly car in the first place. Definitely not enough to justify the price tag, I would save 30k more and get the CTR.

Pfft. 30k more (than the cup) and you have an Audi S3. More power, better build, not French! If the RS250 really is going to be that much, not worth it.

The Renault is way more unique than any VAG - for all that money you are making a pretty good expression with the Renault.
If you really want German then you're better off with the Astra 1.6 Turbo - its much more unique than a VAG.

You really do love punting Opel.

I would probably take the original for 360k if i were going that route...the s3 starts around 416k, add the extras and ur looking at easily 435k+....
simply way way out of the price range and not that much more power actually...

Jetta 2.0TDI? Much more space than a hatchback. The Jetta 6 is coming early next year, though.

Just buy a VW Golf 6 GTI. Buy that French crap now or an OILPEL and pay later. The GTI is the best in it's class period.

The Golf is boring and way overrated. The Renault is a great car and if you look at the amount of Clios on our roads you can hardly say they make crap cars. Opel is better than VW as has been proven on countless occasions, its just that dumb South Africans think VW is better because they lack imagination.

Giulietta Quadrofoglio FTMFW!!! Forget golfs and opels...get this thing!

Exclusivity
MOERSE maintenance plan
173kw!
ALfa-ness
great looking car
euro ncap 5 star rating
DNA system
class leading TBi technology
did I say exclusivity and MOERSE maintenance plan...ppl will buy this car JUST for that!

Good review of the Giuleiita on Fifth Gear:

Even the 125kw Multiair does a sub-8 01-100. That's going to sell for R290k, right?

Agreed. Why all the negativity towards it? I think people just haven't read up enough on what the CRZ is supposed to be - a Hybrid Sports Car. I can also think of a couple of reasons to buy it over a Type-R (@UnUnOctium): It's newer, it's more exclusive and it has WAAAAY better fuel consumption.

Very true. The only problem I have with Honda these days is that they are not offering a competitively priced complete package. For example, the previous Jazz had a lot more kit at a very competitive price. The new Jazz is not as good a deal as the i20 or Corsa. However, if quality in the smallest of details is required and you want a ride that is as pleasant as they come you really have little other options.

Luckily they are tastefully styled and they are unique - something far too many people in SA overlook when they go car buying.

Go for the Impreza man!

VW loses value way too quick, you can pick up a mk5 gti for around R180,000 now a couple years later, you'll hardly have your car and the mk7 will be released n not too long after that mk8, The mk6 has hardly been around and they releasing the mk7 - which will tremendously drop the value of the mk6 , rather go for the rocco then..
It's a stunning car but is it really worth it when there are so many other cars in the same and higher 'league' for the same price? it will always just be a golf.

Maybe a lumina? or OPC or M3 or Mazda 3 MPS (190kw) or even a lexus.
But then again like someone said, it's about your taste, not mine or any one elses
