Golf V GTi drivers

The car's Automotion plan should cover the cost of the gearbox being fixed/replaced as the car is still under the 60,000km limit. If they don't want to replace it because it is expiring soon then give them hell (or extend it for another 30,000kms - it costs R12k to do so).

Just make sure the mileage doesn't go over 60,000kms!

+1. I had to replace the gearbox on my car about 4 years ago and it cost R35k for a new gearbox.

Its over 60000 now, but when the job was opened it was 59700 so im fine with that, i just hope that they dont pull the time card - if they do, i will kick up a huge stink!

They have excellent service... just don't leave silver coins in the car for the mechanics to score.... :p

Why do they always steal it? Are they allowed to? I know thye have that warning about removing possessions etc but I tend to leave a R2 or R1 in different parts of the like ashtray and side compartments and they always gone... Is it the mechs or the guys who wash the car afterwords?

Who cares who steals it? They steal it, period.
But the bad thing is, (happened to a friend of mine whom I picked up at the garage there), there was 12x R5's in the money thingy... when we fetched the car there was only 10.... blatantly showing their dishonesty :(

Atleast there was 10... they clean me out all the time, even coppers!:p

Yup.. dont leave anything valuable in the car. I lost a few silvers... and some coppers... :)

VW in three Cape Town branch's did that to me (Cape Town).

Toyota actually put the coins they find in the seats, floor, etc. in the center compartment. I take all coins out when I drop the car off, and when I get it back from them, there are more coins...

So here is a spanner in the works question; If your car has a 3 year 120,000 warranty and a 5 year 60000 motorplan and your "gearbox is giving issues that they cant seem to fix and may need to be replaced" in 3 years and one month at 59000 km, is it still covered under my motorplan? Lets see the general consensus...

The replacement of the gearbox will be covered by the Automotion maintenance plan.

Well it spent two days there last week (thur, fri) they said the had to driver it for 10 km in first, 10km in 2nd etc or something like (wish i took down the odo reading cos it seems like the gas level didnt move) that and it made no difference. So now I wait and see what the factory says they must try next....
