Gone with DStv

Another one who can't understand the difference between being an ardent supporter and being against censorship. Still waiting for anyone to prove it's racism. Also it's very much an attack on Afrikaans people. I don't see other people being affected by it besides those that appear with him.

Funny how all of the new accounts, single purpose accounts, and one post wonders are suddenly popping up in support of MC's actions. That says a lot more about them and their supporters than about the Steve supporters.

Plenty of examples of black private individuals who spread racism yet get off with a slap on the wrist. If I'm not mistaken one or two were actually MC employees in a way yet nothing happened to them.

Again I draw attention to the fact. First person with a R150k fine a white women. First person to get a 3 year prison sentence for crimen injuria again a white woman. Sadly I don't expect the same ruling to ever apply to blacks.

For good reason. ANN7 was directly using MC to spread propaganda. It became a liability from a financial perspective. There was also allegations of irregularities both with the initial contract and the renewal. Compare apples to apples.

One doesn't need a judgement form any council to know that Stevie is bad for the future of this country and needs to be rejected absolutely. Every mouthpiece he has needs to be muted, he doesn't stand at all for a new South Africa, however prefers one that is split with privilege provided to a few.

By saying that this is an attack on Afrikaans people straw mans the argument, and convinces the masses to get behind the cause because they themselves are being attacked, even though it has nothing to do with them. If this was a banning of all KykNet channels, maybe, however it isnt so Nooit bru!

You get people behind a cause even though it has absolutely nothing to do with them, their views or beliefs. It assumes that all Afrikaans people share his views, which they don't, actually some reject him vehemently. People who see that just because I am Afrikaans doesn't mean I'm "right-wing", nor do I have to support something done in "my name" or for "my people".

Our responsibility remains to remove all elements that seek to divide us, rather seeking those that unite us, as a generation it is deeply engrained within our purpose, simply put - "dit is one erns"

That is your view. I don't expect you to be objective. There are also plenty of people who are really bad for this country yet we don't go out of our way to censor them.

Well brilliant. You've said it. It has nothing to do with them yet they are being targeted. So it's very much an attack on Afrikaans like all of the previous ones where ironically Lesufi was also involved with. A pattern is starting to emerge. Also if we assume that Weinstein is guilty of the allegations against him, we don't see Hollywood going all out to ban everything he's involved in because that would affect a lot of other people.

I've pretty much said this. You think everyone that's against censorship here is for Steve? LOL

Very extreme view. But let's start with those sowing real division like Malema and Mcmxit. Take it to the (il)logical extremes so we can all see how stupid a fascist state is.

Reading this thread, I'd say Monochoice has done a better job at dividing us than Steve ever did. What they have done is not only put a spotlight on Steve making him a martyr, but also disadvantaged a lot of other people that were involved with him in the performing arts, not his politics. Add that people voted on the Ghoema awards, paying for the SMSs, Monochoice dissed their vote by abusing their rather monopolistic market power. SO lookign at all this, I'm not for Steve but rather against Monochoice's kuk.

In all seriousness though, if you don't pay for a month they'd have switched it off in any case.

Telkom bill you even after your service is cancelled.
It's not just Telkom, MonoChoice has been known to supplement its revenue with drive-by debit orders years after people cancelled their DSTV subscriptions, and with no explanation as to why MonoChoice retains the personal information of customers years after they have not been customers.

Who decides when someone needs to be removed and silenced?

Happened to me. They deducted a payment after I cancelled my subscription. I figured I will try out streaming so left it as credit if I wanted to switch on again. 6 Months later they reactivated my account and started deducting a debit order again. Reversed the transaction and blocked them now from my bank. Lost my initial "credit" though.

Yep, it is well documented on MyBB in old news articles/threads/posts (somewhere). IIRC there are two separate instances where MonoChoice has run debit orders against the bank accounts of many former customers.
