I'm just shocked that KZN gets a lower budget than it brings in in tax revenue.

Folks over there must have somehow figured out how to monetise KZN's biggest service, looting things before setting them on fire.
KZN has been grossly under invested in by the ANC government, projects that would be cheaper and give greater financial returns in KZN were instead earmarked for Gauteng for years I wondered why I.

But after the unrest I can now see the reason that they chose Gauteng over KZN

I don't mind if inland provinces pay a few cents extra per liter on top of transport costs to pay for Gauteng roads

So...

I read they are planning on paying back the people who paid their e-toll fees. How do you think that will work? I foresee the ANC looting that allocation bare. How will they know who paid what?

I am not a fan of paying for something I don't use, unless the people that don't use the highway get a reduction in the Petrol price, and Eskom that Burns R2billion per month on diesel also do not pay the extra Petrol levy

I have seen this as a request but nothing further. The only way this would be possible from a Financial Expert point of view is if the people submit their claims for money they paid together with the proof of payments.

Great, thanks for asking. I think 2023 will be the best year yet. I started my YouTube Channel recently and am focusing on Comparing South African Banks and then the odd video on Government spending and issues like Etolls

What??

Just imagine, once the Gauteng Local government implements the fuel levy, and they manage to get the R13billion plus maintenance costs funded with the fuel levy, do you really think they will ever kill that goose that laid the golden egg, you and your kids and their kids and their kids will then pay for that forever

Meaning companies will get theirs back. Normal Joe won't see shyte.

Well, If you paid an invoice or a statement, they should have records of that, (Requirement from SARS) then you should be able to get everything back that you paid. If they allow this payback topic. The only thing where you would require something like proof of payment would be if you paid and they did not allocate the payment to your account.

I spent a little time on gp highways last year, if we could get the N1 and N2 to be 6 or 7 lanes I wouldn't mind paying a small toll fee everyday, the highways into and out of cape town is a massive abortion almost daily.

Way more cars than the road can handle.

LOL Yes, I remember the 3 (max) lane highway before the expansion for the 2010 World Cup, I use to work in Pretoria and Stay in Roodepoort back then, then you either had the N14 2 lane option or the 3 lane N1 Highway. 15 years ago that was a bloody pain to travel every morning and every evening. I guess most people that complain do not remember that. Then we got more lanes 4 to 5 to 6 lanes depending on which section you travel, but then the people that used the road had to pay for the ease of use. It is like if you want to watch the sport you have to pay DSTV, and if you don't want to pay DSTV then you can't watch the sport. This is the user-pay principle. Now they want to use a fuel levy, which is like everyone in the country has to pay regardless if you have a DSTV dish or TV or not. Mark my words, if they are allowed to change this to a fuel levy, the next thing that will be added will be the SABC tv license to the fuel levy, and so on, and so on. We will quickly get to R100 per liter of Fuel because of not having the option or not to use something.
