@Lesufi previously ones that used the roads, had to pay for them "User Pay Principal" ;Now EVERYONE including ones that do NOT use the roads, have to pay for them. And @OUTASA & @Lesufi says that this is a victory. In what world does this make any sense? @MbalulaFikile #Etolls

It's always has supposed to be the tax payer, you know the tax on the fuel we pay.
Not sure which one your referring to:
  • Fuel levy: R3.83
  • Road Accident Fund Levy: R2.13
  • Wholesale margin: R0.41
  • Retail margin: R2.23
  • Other levies such as carbon tax, slate levy and transport costs: R1.43
  • Total: R10.03
However, the capital expenditure to fund these projects are always on borrowed money as usual. Politicians enrich themselves with these borrowed money and leave the taxpayer slaving for decades.

Fuel levy is supposed to go to funding road repairs, retail and wholesale margin is for the petrol station owners, road accident fund is well for that useless entity.

it is no victory, all it has is shifted the goalposts from the taxpayers to somebody else, and all it means is they move the tax onto something else.
nobody is fooled, (except the Media companies saying MASSIVE VICTORY)

Vat will increase to 20% PAYE tax will skyrocket,

It is actually slavery. Tax payers are owned by the ANC. They take what they want for themselves from other people`s efforts, and this is law.

Do you have dates that you can attach to your conspiracy?

That fuel levy revenue is already over burdened with leeches. Their creativity has led them to borrow with no end or sustainability in site.

The last nail in the coffin: NHI

It's not going anywhere, when the province realise they need to find some cash for it they will most likely double down:

“Gauteng will also cover the costs of maintaining the 201 kilometres and associated interchanges of the roads and any additional investment in road will be funded through either the existing electronic toll infrastructure or new toll plazas, or any other revenue source within their area of responsibility.”

After all, the infrastructure is already there.

Always conveniently forget the road tax is supposed to pay for roads, but never ring fenced and all just part of the kitty

Watch them go about this more carefully and suddenly your disc renewal will be tied to "km's driven" or something like that, and suddenly your vehicle will be illegal to drive and insurance can refuse to pay.

So you mean like everything else in SA?

We are going to pay for this one way or another. Either by tax or some other way......this isn't a victory it's a wolf in sheep's clothing
this, Problem is people are easy to mislead and lie to
all you say is MASSIVE Victory, and people forget and move on,

no wonder the ANC keeps winning elections, people are just too stupid to Vote elsewhere.

So who'll pay off this debt left over from etollie now?
pay it off through traditional tolling where a massive chunk of the money doesn't go overseas and to middlemen from some dodgy toll deal. The sort that's worked for many decades.

I don't have a problem with the concept of tolling roads. I just have a problem with e-toll.

It's a victory because SANRAL isn't going to continue running up massive debt hanging on to a revenue collection system that costs them money to operate and doesn't collect any revenue.

Just 1 years worth of fuel Levi tax could have paid for the project or settle all the debt.

So we already paid for this ****

we probably did already, but the Goverment is hyper greedy, and overinflates prices 20000%
so no chance the ANC removed taxes, the ANC is all about ADDING not removing Tax.
