Agreed, loved it in the past. Why do they always have to fsck up a good thing?
 
Chrome has a history of getting rid of things people like and destroying features that made people use it in the first place.

I originally switched to it because it used to be so fast and lightweight. Now I might as well just switch back to FF.
 
I've tried Firefox, Chrome, Opera and IE on my Celeron pc & I can only recommend IE.

All the other browers are stuttering and will not give you a smooth and fast experience.

Microsoft knows best how to squeeze the maximum out of the hardware that runs their software.

To note, this is also the reason why MS is regarded as being anti-competitive. They don’t provide any other option than Internet Explorer, except that other internet browsers are installable. Certain home users don’t know this or know how to do this, but Chrome is lately promoted in near every installer. Then on the anti-competitive note, Chrome is pre-installed in various Linux distributions and on smart devices. FF will also push on smart devices. Apple has its own stable to promote their internet browser.

You can't really blame Microsoft, as it's their OS and their web browser for it.

Apple's latest Safari browser only works on OSX, so you cannot say Microsoft is anti-competive anymore.
 
The older versions of Opera were the best browsers around. I still use Opera 11.84 as it is the only browser I can find that doesn't fall over with 400+ tabs open and it's light on RAM - with 400 tabs open it's around 3 GB usage, whereas Chrome has a process for each tab and some are sitting at 300 MB. Right now I only have 21 tabs open in Chrome and usage is at around 1,171 MB. That's six times the usage per tab when compared to Opera o.0

Um....your sig says you have 48GB RAM....it's not like you have a low spec tablet or pc with 2GB RAM. :wtf:
 
Yes, Chrome is laggy on Mac OS X. Moved all streaming/YouTubing over to Safari, much better.

My rMBP also runs hotter streaming in Chrome vs in Safari.
 
My Safari experience is going okay so far, just don't like how it handles tabs. In Chrome it has the favicon of each site so you can easily see which site it is, on Safari it's just text and it worse because it starts bunching them up at the end.

Yeah Safari tabs takes getting used to. I found you can two finger swipe to navigate the tabs bar though, works nicely.
 
Chrome performance took a dive a long time ago. I only use it on my phone but on Desktop it's either IE11 or Firefox which are both worlds apart in speed performance compared to chrome.

Removed Chrome from all our computers at work and replaced with safari.

Chrome was opening around 8 threads in Task Manager for what I don't know.

From the start they did that so that if one tab crashes you don't lose the whole browser. Still loving Chrome here. Ram is cheap nowadays.

Also a ***** opinion piece this http://techcrunch.com/2015/02/15/dont-be-google/. Android sales stagnating in one quarter and the guy loses his mind haha! I see firefox dropped to fourth place http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php.

I find that Opera's older builds load web pages far too slowly and that was a major factor in their losses in Tom's Hardware's web browser tests. I even tried the 11.64 build last night and found that Opera has disabled installing extensions from their store, requiring you to upgrade to the latest version to do it.

This is my problem too, which is why I'm trying to get back into Internet Explorer and Firefox instead. I have nine tabs open in Chrome 64 and it runs twelve processes and uses just shy of 965MB of RAM. Chrome loads a lot of things in separate processes so that it won't be brought down by any one process or tab, but it is quite an annoyance, especially when it takes up so much CPU horsepower for running Flash content.

Fully agree with you, on a high end system Chrome is really nice to use.

Just on my low + medium spec computers, Chrome runs like a dog & IE11 runs like a flippin champ.
