Google Chrome is starting to suck

Have a look at Avant or Otter browsers. Opera killed itself as far as I'm concerned.
Think Otter was among the browsers I've tried previously and didn't quite like the design. Will give Avant a try though.

I really do like how everything works in Chrome and the tight Google integration with my other devices but it's come to a point where it's painful to use.

I'm using version 40 on Mac OS and it's so slow, pages take long to load, takes long to open new tabs, uses a crap load of CPU when playing video (even native webm).

Jump on to Safari and it feels like I've upgraded my internet to a gigabit fibre connection plus no excessive CPU usage on video playback.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it only a Mac thing?

I'm testing out Safari now for the next few days to see if I can adjust, so far so good.

Thread should be moved to the Mac section.

I think this is due to MAC. Apple is working good on Safari and other like dell, HP work good with chrome. There is nothing but the giant play against each other. So if you are using Safari then go with Safari.

Took a look and Otter is actually the project to recreate Opera. Was a bit buggy and flat when I used it but definitely something I will keep my eye on. Has a lot of potential.

Performed the latest upgrade to my chrome and ever since cant use the reply with quote button on mybb... started using firefox for mybb.

And so it starts... the web becomes incompatible... :p

Just wait till http2 is officially launched and running on servers...

I also liked the old Opera before the change to the Chrome engine

The original developers are doing this - still in Beta though

What's so bad about the latest Opera? I use it as my main browser. Looks clean and modern, has the best Youtube addon of any browser, renders very well, is recognised as Chrome by websites which comes in very handy, syncs bookmarks, has an awesome landing page etc.

Guess you didn't rely on the features of the old Opera.

I switched to Opera from Chrome earlier today...

15 minutes later I was back to Chrome...

damn videos weren't showing up at all

Weird. Opera is the best browser for viewing videos I've ever used. And the Youtube addon is incredible. You can expand videos to take up the entire available tab area, without actually going full screen. And it preloads until 100% of the video is loaded, not just tracking ahead of you. And you can preconfigure all video settings - I expand the video size, turn off annotations and use 720p quality for example.

I'm forced to spend my day at work using IE11. It makes me appreciate every second I'm on my home PC using Chrome.
