Google Nexus 5

hey guys..just a random thought/question - will the Nexus 5 work on Cell C?

I am using it on Cell c too..I find the signal better on the nexus 5 better than it was on my previous gnex.
e.g. - In an area where I used to have no signal or intermittent signal on my previous phone I now get constant signal with one/two bars on my nexus 5.

I took my nexus 5 off charge this morning. 3.5 hours of use so far and 76% is remaining.

Let see how i fares till the afternoon.

I rebooted my phone after noticing that media server process killing my battery. I havent used the phone much since then.

At the moment, the run since charge is 8h 23mins and batter is sitting on 69%

How much did the Nexus 5 cost to import with shipping and everything?

A lot of people have commented about the display being fantastic. I personally agree with some people who say its a bit washed out.

I have a black wallpaper and next to my S3, the black just isn't dark enough.

Some of the things i miss from my S4:
my full screen touch wiz calendar widget which shows the whole month and little short descriptions of the items in calendar.
blocking mode - ability to block all notification except the phone ringing or a white list of phone numbers
some of the notification sounds (yes i know i can go download them)
the fact that i need to pull down the notifications bar, and click the menu button, and then click settings to get to settings instead of just menu->settings

Just swipe down using 2 fingers. it takes you straight to quick settings panel

Try Jorte for the calendar - the month view has a brief description. For the blocking-type features, I use Tasker for some of them (like automatically silencing the phone at night, except for one or two whitelisted numbers).

Err, why buy an N5 then? Sounds like TouchWiz works for you.

Also, no point in comparing the S4 and N5 screens, one is designed to be over saturated and the other isn't.

These are the reasons i bought it:
1. Cheaper phone
2. Tired of waiting for the manufacturer to push out the latest OS updates

But yeah some of the touchwiz features are pretty good - others are gimmicks

I used to use Jorte. Thing its quite a terrible looking widget. But if i have to go back to it, i will. Unless somebody has some other reccomendations.

To be honest, the S-Planner widget is one of the best things that Samsung have invented. It's one of the things I missed the most when I moved to the Nexus 4.

However- Simple Calendar Widget is pretty neat.

Tell you what... I will do a direct swap with my S4 for your N5 and I will handle shipping ;).

LOL. Nice offer, but those are only 4 things which bug me so far. I am willing to put the phone through its paces for a while yet before i make up my mind about it.

And of those 4 things - other posters have already provided good solutions for 2 of them (Simple Calendar Widget and Swipe down with 2 fingers).

lol Its cool the wife would kill me anyway :P. I have already promised her the S4 as a upgrade on her S2. Should be getting my N5 mid Jan ;).

I would probably wait for the next nexus 5, I got the nexus 7 just after it launches and felt a bit ripped off when weeks later there was one available with 3G and more memory... But I love Google so can't stay angry

Anyone figured how to get google now to search your Google music library? Worked on my old phone, doesn't on this one.

There phones are becoming more and more stable. The nexus 5 and KitKat is a dream if this was only more advertised for the masses and can u imagine a phone like this in SA for 4000 it would dominate with the right advertising. Buut as normal everything is always blown up
