I'm with Vodacom, and my N5 (USA version) works fine. I've set the preferred network type to 3G, seeing as the LTE won't work and I didn't want to waste battery with the phone searching for useless signals.

According to JacquesR, you should be okay...I am with Vodacom. Just did a sim swap this morning and waiting for it to be activated.Hopefully I wont be experiencing issues.

So, I finally received my parcel booking confirmation
Cost $59 (R600) to ship the device, screen protector, wireless charger, a Nexus 7 case and Galaxy S4 case. Cheaper than my last bundle, oddly enough.
Hopefully this means that I receive my order early next week...
Good afternoon, everyone.
Can somebody please specify the customs fee that is payed after buying Nexus 5 from Google Play directly?
Thank you.
I received mine too... I SOOO want this before Christmas!
From me... To me!

My parcel status was changed to shipped last night. Have a feeling that this will be a really good Christmas![]()
Same here
But I don't have a tracking number. In your experience, do you ask for a tracking number or do they mail you with one without you asking?

Can somebody who already bought the phone advise what is the best and cheapest way to buy nexus 5?
Please excuse my ignorance. I never bought anything from overseas.

Think of our this way, you don't have dessert before the main course meal.
This was me a few weeks ago. #Happydays![]()
I'm getting good standby time and better voice quality after forcing my N5 to only use WCDMA on CellC. No 2G<-->3G band hopping and no LTE searching. Was easy enough to do via the hidden testing menu accessible via *#*#4636#*#*.
Go to Phone Information and select WCDMA from the "preferred network type" options.
I would expect it to return to the default value after a power cycle. If I ever turn the phone off I will know for sure.
You perhaps know how my pc can see the N5 as a storage device ? I am trying online guides but just no luck, so frustrating !
Anyone know where I can get an adapter to fit the charger that comes with the USA version of the phone ?
No. I haven't tried plugging it into a PC yet. But, as I understand it, the N5 cannot be used as a normal mass storage device. Plugging it into a PC connects it as an MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) device. To make this work an MTP driver must be installed.
To get the driver you will likely have to download the latest Android SDK.
