Google Nexus 5

If the M8 were 20% cheaper a month ago, I would've grabbed one instead of the N5. Still, the N5 does what I need very well, with the added benefit of proper Android updates. The next step will probably be to start fiddling a little more, with other ROM's.

Sigh ... My boet has my old N5 ... best phone I had. Stoooopid S5 sux. Had to root it and load a sd card fix to write to my sd.

Upgrade? Er... Okay...

I did say slight :D and while I remember, I've not asked you what your opinion of the S5 vs N5 experience is. Mind sharing (just out of curiosity)?

The One M8 or normal One?

The One M8. The OnePlus One would have been fantastic, but I don't have an invite. I was considering a Moto X (simply because it was different), but have loved the design (and screens) of the HTC One range since the One X.

I would have kept the N5 :p

I would have too, but circumstances dictated otherwise. It was the best phone I've ever owned, and quite possible the perfect Android smartphone, but unfortunately it's not cost-effective to import another 32Gb white version. Orange Store only stock it in black, which is just plain boring, and I can't live with 16Gb anymore.

So yeah, a nice, shiny One M8 is in my future.

I would have loved the One Plus as well, was close too, since I got the invite. But they annoyed me. Give you the invite and then only 24 hours to buy it! I was caught off guard, it was weekend here, didn't know anybody in EU to ship it to etc. Really pissed me off. For me, for the specs and price, that's the phone to go for atm.

That just sounds like "I wanted a shiny new toy" :p Hehe

That sucks. Sounds like a serious stock-control issue, that.

I should be so lucky :p

The N5 feel really a lot better and I just love the device. The S5 is ... wel ... er ... an expensive smartphone. It works and it works well, but it is not "friendly". I tried to frankenstein the stock firmware - I wanted to use the polish firmware with the local modems and flash all with Mlobile Odin Pro, but it resulted in a soft brick twice. I used to do this all the time with the S2 so I know I did it right, but somehow the S5 doesn't want to play along. The phone is excellent, but the N5 is soooooo uncomplicated and everything is just so easy and friendly and non-restrictive

I still maintain, the S5 is probably the best phone out there when you view the whole package with AHD etc, but honestly, I would recommend the N5 over the S5 because it does the same and it is R5k less. The fact that the Gear 2 doesn't work with the N5 (yet) is a bit of a draw back because I like the gear (gimmick) from a toy point of view.

The N5 can not compete as far as specs are concerned and the S5 is a power beast and the build quality is about the same (very good) , but the N5 is... man... it's a Nexus! It's is brilliant. It looks better, it feels better, it is first for updates and the whole experience is just fantastic.

EDIT: BEEEEEEG thanks for your help

You should have gone for it. I was in the same situation and made a plan. There are a handful of sites that can receive parcels on your behalf and send them on to you if that's what you need.

64GB storage, 3100mAh battery, 5.5" screen, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 and Cyanogenmod 11s is just amazing. I'm currently trying out virtual navigation buttons and I think it's grown on me.

Cool, thanks for that. I had a suspiscion it would be something along those lines.

The N5 is a pretty awesome device, no doubt. Specs are one thing, but overall usability is a much more important factor.

You not keen on doing a manual setup of the Gear 2 to Nexus 5?

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the shipping?
