Google Nexus 6

I went for the midnight blue 32gb.

Your usage sounds similar to mine. Something I do aswell is use Tasker to set my phone to 2g when the screen is off to save even more juice.

I do find the possibility of the screen burning in too quickly slightly disconcerting. It might be too early to tell but are you seeing anything such as this in video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKAWr9PjWjw

Well iv had mine now a week basically and I have double checked using a Grey background as well and mine is not showing any signs of screen burning .
Must admit I am loving the Nexus 6 , was out with the kids this weekend and managed to use the camera a bit as well and I am pretty pleased , better than the Note 3 , will need to compare it to my Wife's S5 and my LG G3 sometime .

The reception on it seems really good (or perhaps I was just having a good signal weekend ) as I had consistently better signal than my wife and we are both with Vodacom . The Google task bar at the top was irritating me in the beginning and whilst I know I can remove it by using Nova as a Launcher for example , after having it for the past week I have actually come to like it as for the first time I have actually made use of the whole "OK Google" thing and have actually found it really good and accurate as well .

I got two Spigen covers for the Nexus 6 (the Neo and the Slim fit) , whilst I like the way the Neo looks and after using both for the past week I will more than likely stick with the Slim Fit . Whilst it does not offer as much protection as the Neo ,it does feel better in hand . Ill take some pics over the next day or two and add them to this post and the quick review I did .

Well after a couple of charging cycles now (and the update which came through on the first day) I am getting some crazy battery life . My screen is set to adaptive brightness ans I have the Ambient display turned on as well . Location services are off and I would say my time on Wi Fi is generally around 50% of the time (if not a little bit less) with the rest of the time being on 3G . Here is a screen shot of my Nexus 6 from today and I am still sitting with 12% battery life currently .

Really enjoying the Nexus 6

So your screen has basically been on the whole day? :p

The phone was last charged yesterday and I took it off charge at 100% at 10:45 am yesterday . So pretty impressed thus far .

So from 10:45am yesterday up until 13:31 today, you basically had 27 hours of the device being on with close to 8 hours screen on time?

Yes that is right , just broke the 8hr on screen time now (8 hrs and 4 min with 10% battery life remaining currently) . I did have the data signal turned off from 23:30 to 04:50am whilst asleep .

Not really. Have a look at their phones over the past two years.

Must admit I agree with you Maverick Jester , Iv handled the Moto X (2014) and I have the Nexus 6 and honestly the build quality and design is much better than the Samsungs I have owned in the past (Note 3 , S5 , S4 , S3 , Note 2 ) . They also tend to keep their phones nice and simple and close to stock Android (the Moto X) with the Nexus 6 being stock .

Motorola might not have the numbers Samsung have ,but they have made some really good devices in the past 2 years . Both my wife and brother in law have a S5 and both have said they would like to get a Moto X after seeing the build quality of the Nexus 6 . Honestly I think Motorola have been doing some really good work over the past 2 years . I personally wish they would make an entry into SA again and also offer the Moto Maker option , but that is wishful thinking as I highly doubt we will see Motorola in SA any time soon .

Build quality and in-hand feel are some of the most important aspects of smartphone design, if not the most important to me. I can live with a slightly off-colour screen (provided that I can correct this at a later stage), but you can't fix bad / poor quality or design.

Motorola 1st;

Motorola's ship has sailed.
That's because you live in SA. The droid maxx and droid range was something special....but they catered to a different market.

Don't tell me you have also fallen for Samsung and Apple marketing bs
