Getting a myus account is not that hard. I signed up for one a week or so ago. Cost R80 for a once off shipping(thats just to register). You deliver the phone to your myus address and once they get it you ship it to za.

When they enable pinch zoom etc in the uk version, won't we be able to just flash the US one with the uk firmware?

Isn't the UK a better option for multitouch? I mean, not that the gestures are that important.. but surely typing is improved if you type really fast? I don't know, just asking

In the states now, and tried to order the phone on sunday. No luck. The webstore is having issues with my credit card. They reckon they card is being rejected by the bank. The bank reckons they havent even received any transactions from google, and have no record of any card declines.
So between google store and the bank i dont know where the issue is. I have been trying to resolve this since sunday without much luck

Signed up for a MyUS account last night ($10 once off), fired up my US proxy and ordered one of these bad boys off the google site last night with no hassles via google checkout.
You can still use your SA credit card but if you do sign up with MyUS, I would recommend contacting your CC provider and adding their address as a trusted source - got a call early this morning from Standard Bank Credit Fraud division making sure it was me that made the purchase. Anyway once I confirmed that with them, got the notification from Google that the order was processed almost immediately and was being sent overnight to my MyUS address.
Not sure what the delivery charge for MyUS will end up being, 2lb (0.9kg) packages costs $61 and the next tier is 5lb (2.3kg) costs $98 (plus customs tax once it reaches here) but whatever, still way cheaper than buying it off ebay. And compared to buying it from local online vendors, i'm laughing

edit: received confirmation from FedEx that the package is on route to MyUS dispatch in a 2lb package, $61 for delivery over to SA so should be jamming some time next week

Whats the price of this phone on the Google website? I cant see it. Im thinking of getting a couple of these and I am wondering how much it would cost me.
Basically I am thinking of going the myus.com route. So whats the amount you pay Google for the phone? Then I add to that the cost of a myus.com address, delivery from them to SA? and VAT at 17.5% for customs right?

As far as I understand, phones and laptops are duty free. Am I wrong?
