Google Play Store?

All my devices do it.
Telkom and vodacom. With WiFi and without. With vpn and without.

All my devices have the latest version. Pixel 4xl and S20 ultra.

Google Play store not loading icons - Google Play Community

Have you maybe seen ,other international online forums ,complain about this issue ?
At the moment, when i Google'd and also checked my international forums, i could not find a single recent thread regarding this matter .!!

when i "quickly" looked at it, it seems mostly Afrikaans ..local S A persons ..or am i wrong in assuming this ??
Point is if we can we can say its an overall "international " Play store issue ...wow it would be good news, as i'm sure Google ,in that case would fix it quickly ..?
So far only local ..??

Well I used a US/UK/German VPN and it does the same.

Am not sure what details play Store receives of the device/network and location etc. But yea, this seems to only happen to some local users in SA, mostly Vodacom sim users, even if you're on WiFi etc.

@rpm can perhaps talk to the right people, as I doubt this is play Store related.

I did however read on the link I posted above that there was a user from Kenya who experienced the same.

Same issue on Galaxy S9 Vodacom / Supersonic Fibre. For a couple of days now actually...

I cleared the cache and data from Play Store and did a force close of app. When you start it up it loads the thumbnails but as soon as you close the app and reopen it, it dissapears again. For me it was after the 19.7.12 update that I noticed it

Only issue I have is I now, for some reason, cannot see any pictures on the Playstore. Just the writing.
Downloading is not an issue.
Same on both mobile data and wifi

Only issue I have is I now, for some reason, cannot see any pictures on the Playstore. Just the writing.

that its not just Vodacom , but a other providers also.?
Seen post here eg Vumatel and Telkom also
Haven't read about anybody from MTN, reporting that they have issues.?

Anyway i again Google 'd to see if it shows any other Countries etc that recently has issues.

One incident yesterday , as i tried to access Reddit forums with Vodacom device, (wifi) It loaded, but did not want to load thumbnails.?
I switched to a ADSL ( wifi) and it immediately loaded thumbnails..
Very strange for me!

For me,
i still state, if it was a Play Store app loading
issue, other persons in other world Regions,
would have surely posted something.?

Also i still suspect it's some form of "throttling"....
I've seen news articles relating to internet data usage
and to me
eg Vodacom relying
on heavy Rain..... (something like that)

After though
Think about the Gov ..... Provinces... Companies etc
everyone using "insane amounts" of data for Video conferences etc..
You have to start cutting and throttling.. no.. yes?

Yes,
if i use my old Samsung S3 mini device, Play Store loads fine..!
However i have tried all " tricks " on my spare Note 8.
eg.. Uninstall Play Store version updates.. go to Play store loads first time fine, Second time, no luck, does not load.etc

Went to Apkmirror website, downloaded
newest Play store version apk (see screenshot) ... updated still does not load.! This (for me) indicates that it cannot be the app itself..?

My "conspiracy theory" is that (if you read my previous post, for my reasoning)
the Service Providers... in my case Vodacom,
has something to do with this issues....!!!! "throttling" ....???
I might be completely wrong in this assumption but i don't think so..?

Firstly,
seems like my throttling theory could be wrong .? ...Really hope so .!
Whats strange is that as far as i can establish and what puzzles me .....
is it only our region /SA that presently has this issue/bug ?
Yet other countries has same Play Store version installed,with no issues ?
..... ..strange bug !!!

Anyway, i managed to get my spare Note 8 ,to show thumbnails again .!!!
In short disabling Play store ,enabling again, installing updated version (Apkmirror )
Going to Play Services app ,clearing data etc
Rebooting ..enabled wifi and it loaded correctly..!!
So far it's sticking after an hour or so ,and few reboots etc etc ,....it's still loading thumbnails fine .!!
For how long i do not know ?

However ,when i tried same method on my Samsung Galalxy Tab A it does not work at all .!!
i'm a bit hesitant trying on my present device ,
Note 10+, as it's my daily driver etc .
Will see .

Thanks, if it's a widespread issue, Google will fix it hopefully soon. Otherwise..?
Positive side,
my Note 8 is still loading thumbnails after about 6..7 hours and a
few reboots to test it. etc. No issues so far...

Let's hope so hey :-( it's odd it is the two Vodacom devices in the house, my FNB one is fine.

Of the members that posted here in this thread,
i would say most is Vodacom devices or network and one or 2, Telkom.?
As far as i can remember it was only you (Nokia 8 FNB ) and @Dave.. i think is Mtn / Telkom not sure ,
that stated they had no issues.?

I just checked my Note 8... thumbnail issue is back.!
So my work around did not work.!
Strange, that Google did not reply or acknowledge any issues , neither Vodacom. ?
This issue, is quite a few days old.
Not that they will if it's actually a throttling issue?
A bug or something like that... yes..

I read the article and I cannot agree with your statement above.
Remember, i also don't want to argue the relevant facts!

The way i understood above paragraph .?

1, They not sure....what's causing the issue ???
eg Play store or localized Network problem s... ( maybe the Service Providers network ?

See my screenshots in my previous post regarding, Vodacom relying on Rain etc and another screenshot in that post.
The article is how they Vodacom is basically struggling...?
To me this seems Vodacom having localized network problems.. no.. yes? )

Why i keep referring to issue that it could be "throttling"
I really hope it's not... anyway,
is i can vaguely remember many, many years back,
certain Service Provider.. Providers,
were throttling.
I can remember that the issues was similar to what we experiencing..
eg Good internet connection, photos/thumbnails, struggling to load or don't
etc etc.
