Google Chrome update lowers memory usage and battery consumption

Google is rolling out two new performance modes in its Chrome web browser to significantly reduce memory and battery consumption on Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS computers.

Despite its status as the world's most popular Internet browser, Chrome has gained a notorious reputation for being a RAM and battery resource hog.

Nice to know Google has got something ready for addressing high memory usage.

Sadly, I uninstalled that browser years ago because of the high memory usage and grew to love MS Edge.

So... it is really a 'mobility' solution. All which it will basically do is put unused tabs into 'airplane' mode. Those tabs won’t be active, and will be reloaded on request. Will this help improve memory use at the user's experience expense?

Anyhow, I think there have been complaints amongst the mobility users, and it is possible that Chrome has been losing notable market share on mobile devices like laptops because it is not only a memory hog but also a battery hog.
