Oh dear... people went with this crap story? You guys saw the source, right?

Why would Google cannabalise their existing IM platform by launching another one? If anything, the market is indicative of a lessening of IM clients. That, and that Google have been consolidating their services into fewer products.

You watching a youtube video on your phone and you want to share it so you click on a share tab, it points to the to your list of contacts you select contact and send.

now here's the kicker the app automatically compresses the video for you to save time and data costs.

everything gets done with 2 clicks.

Or you could, you know, share the link. And the recipient could watch the video at a lower resolution, but via a better codec and using a better compression algorithm.

In other words- the way it's already done.

I am pretty happy with Telegram now and for my contacts that dont have that I still fall back to WhatsApp. Cant see myself moving over to this and trying to get people to get onto it, unless it is something really great or they push it out to all android phones and make it sign in automatically so I dont have to convince people to use it.

Been trying out Telegram this week, and it's brilliant!
