Google unveils Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Really nice list of upgrades, especially project butter, I just hope the GS2 can take advantage of it. But how does offline voice dictation work? I thought a server connection was required to process the data?
 
OMW go check out the updated My Apps in Google play on your desktop.

Now that's a 1 up against iTunes of note.

Update + remove per device via your PC.
 
Google Now looks really interesting, but I foresee a backlash from the privacy advocates, because this highlights how much personal information Google has about all of us!

This O S just changed the game. Scaling down the cpu on tasks can only help battery power in smartphones.
 
I wonder how it will compare against iOS 8, when most people will eventually be on 4.1 JB. :whistle:

Well lucky we don't have to wait for an OS updates to get all the features. - See modular OS :p

For one the new Maps, Mail, Youtube and other applications is already available for all OS's to update.

On that note dig the new pre cache feature http://imgur.com/a/Tw8Et

Also must say I love the new ability to update and uninstall my apps strait of a desktop browser, without the need to plug in the phone.

So.... if you actually read my posts, you'll see I use all the major mobile OS's and think there is very little between them. The 2 things IOS holds over Android at the moment is a slicker UI (not better, just the way the graphics accelleration is done) and the Ecosystem which still is without rivals.

On the UI; early days, but both Win7/8 and BB10 seem to present a better UI that either IOS or Android (at least up to ICS).

Saw that and its awesome. Great new feature
 
mmmm, cant say i like the privacy stuff.

So son borrows dads phone(a sharks supporter), searches for boobies and bulls, and now dad gets bombarded with his phone showing him the nearest topless bars and bulls match scores.

The rest of the updates are pretty cool.

At least it will use the same Linux kernel (Ver 3) as ICS so we can expect to see much faster updates than ICS that had a kernel jump. No need to wait for Driver modules to be updated.

Source to be released mid July.
